Unrelated but I remember when Limewire (then Frostwire) first came out it was the sheezy... then my computer exploded.

I got an invite and have been using it but I'm not seeing how it is any better than grooveshark. Aren't they basically the same?

I got my email invite today. I installed the player and checked out their catalog. I am seeing more Euro releases than I do in iTunes, FWIW.

I'm liking it, but I agree that it seems like Grooveshark to me. Took me about an hour but I got this up and running with working sound, on Linux.
    Wine Emulation ftw!

I got Spotify to scrobble. The Preference pulldown has a place to enter your Last.fm name/password.

been thinking the same thing. though i guess you can link up with your social networks which shares your friends playlists they create? i think. that and if you pay can get mobile version and offline capability.

Just got it. Kind of cool. I'm going back and checking all the Joe Ely songs I don't already have.

    Bump....

Anyone using the iPhone app for this? Apparently it's $11/month? Is it worth it?

Is there a work-around of any kind? Do the directions in the OP still work?

spotify has a nice library but they don't have everything. the real benefit of the premium account is that it streams 320kbps. if you are outputting to a DAC through to a good 2-channel audio system, this makes a huge difference.

I've been using Spotify on my iPhone / PC / Android phone for awhile now. I think I might like the Android app a bit better. They're both fairly nice.

As for your question; I don't know about any work arounds or anything since I pay for it. With that said, it's $10/month and that gives you no ads on the PC version and access to the mobile apps.

No. Spotify wants you to install a program on your PC, while GrooveShark plays it right on your web browser (needs Flash installed).

    Color me  as well.

I think this is what I meant ...

Since Spotify hosts its own music, CDs should not be missing tracks and all tracks should have the same quality.

The app has bad ratings but I guess the service itself is not too bad. You can see what sort of songs they have from the PC version and if that's enough then you can imagine what the mobile one provides. Consider how much data your mobile plan provides too.

Yeah, I noticed that. I would be using it exclusively through my phone since the website is blocked at work :)rolleyes:), so just wondering if it's even worth it.

Pandora is getting kind of old. It's either repeating too many songs or going off into left field with my playlists. Maybe I'll stick to Grooveshark, even though it's hard to navigate and the tracks have inconsistent quality.

Grooveshark does not have an iPhone app unless you jail break it. That's why I decided against it.
