You'd think it would be common sense not to throw around the pigskin on a crowded beach...

Not all big government is federal. I feel free to reject any government shackles on society - whether the nanny-state sponsor is federal or local government.

Besides - restricting football is just un-American!

I wanted to laugh but this is just sad! What the left is doing to California is a precursor for the rest of the nation.

You've got to remember, this is coming from California.

Nothing about California surprises me. Nothing.

Texas should issue a proclamation supporting the throwing of the football on the beach in the great state of Texas....

FAIL. Have you been to Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes Estates? I have. Rich-rolling, R-pulling conservatives for the most part, in my experience.

    This stinks of gated-community, uber-conservative control-freakism, sadly.

LA Liberal: Pass me the hippy lettuce and let's play frisbee after we smoke a while.

LA Conservative: Keep your hippy frisbee away from my $45 bottle of Pinot Grigio, punk.

That's fine, but it isn't the libertarian or Ron Paul ideal

Yet another reason why I thank God I don't live in the hellhole cesspool sewer known as Los Angeles any more!

I wouldn't say that. One of the big fights that Ron Paul's organization has been fighting has been against oppressive homeowner associations. Libertarians prefer laws to be made at as low a level as practical, but they prefer to not have oppressive laws at all.

No ordinance here in SF county regarding footballs/frisbees...

...that being said, the beaches here tend to be cold and foggy the majority of the time in the summer.

True, nobody will agree with 100% of the laws, but that doesn't change the ideas that local laws are just that... local. Which is what we've been hearing for decades.

Get the Federal laws, and money out of education... let that be done at state and local levels. Well the state and local communities would do the same things as the Federal govt. but probably less efficiently. Either way the goals would be the same, and most of the regulations would be the same.

The lists of things to which libertarians have said "If you really want that done, it should be done at a local level instead of the Federal level" is immense.

Mostly I'm just giving people a hard time about it. Like I said I hate the laws and think they are completely ridiculous.

I would rather this stupid law be at one beach rather than it being a federal law covering all beaches. But it's still stupid. That's not hard to understand.

our annual beach trip with the kids at my afterschool program is ruined now. we used to have groups playing soccer, volleyball, football and frisbee without bothering anyone.

we go to Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, and for some local kids, it is their first experience at the coast when they live a mere 10 miles away.

    a complete crock.
