I hate to bring it up but I forgot how the Rockets managed to land number33 from the Bulls. They traded a baby salary for a godzilla one, so how exactly was it possible for it to happen? Did I somehow forget that Houston was once way under the cap? I know this question is out of place of current posts but its bugging me not knowing how it was possible. Thanks in advance for the answer to the question.
Zig, They got under the cap by Drexler's retirement, plus Barkley agreed to take a huge paycut. We had like 2 significant contracts at the time - Olajuwon and Brent Price (!), so we were far enough under the cap. It's all coming back to ya now, isn't it. ------------------
It was actually a sign-and-trade, so that Pip could get the extra $$$ you can get from your own team. It was Roy Rogers and a future 2nd rounder (which they got this year) for Pippen. Damn, we could've had Jake Voskuhl! ------------------
Slight correction: we still owe the Bulls our pick. Our only pick this year was 38, and the Bulls chose not to take it. Thank goodness for that; otherwise no Langhi. Thanks Jerry! ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net Assimilate David Falk!!
No, I'm almost positive I saw in a newspaper that one of Chicago's trio (32, 33, 34) came from us. I guess it came through another team from some other trade. ------------------
