If you are another team why trade for him even if you like him a little bit, because you can just pick him up in free agency in the offseason, the lack of extension means he is just an expiring low end contract. Why bother taking a flyer now? DD
I understand why Jordan would want to do it, I am saying there is no motivation for another organization to do it. If he comes over and plays well, they have no hold on him whatsoever. The lack of owning his rights makes him almost untradeable. DD
Only way the Rockets move the 09er's is if they are taking a contract back in return to help the other team shed salary off the bottom line. In that case, whats the point of getting another expiring contract in return unless its a Chris Kaman type who can help the Rockets get in the playoffs. Think of vets in the last year of their deals with sizable contracts on bad teams that arent going to the playoffs? Those are the type of players the Rockets could trade expiring for expirings for and it makes sense for both parties. -However there are always David Anderson type of moves Morey can make to shed the 09er's were he is getting back a conditional 2nd round pick that will never happen. That actually might be the most likely scenario. Theres no reason why a team like the Celtics couldnt use a warm body who grabs an occasional rebound for a conditional 2nd round pick.
I wonder how we can accommodate Smith on our "loaded" roster...hope a trade is imminent..either for picks or any contributing player.
Jonathan_Feigen Jonathan Feigen [rQUOTEr]As expected, the Rockets waived Jeff Adrien this afternoon. Move was made to make room to sign Greg Smith tomorrow.[/rQUOTEr]
The dude from Memphis....er, uh, muscular dude, no BB IQ; DORSEY, Joey, Dorsey, that's him, almost couldn't remember. He was the same way. Horsing around so much that Adelman had to call his name 10 times just for the dude to hear that he was being put in the game. Jordan Hill is so unbelievably inconsistent. Maybe his good games are correlated to not smoking doobage beforehand. Who knows? There are hungrier guys who didn't get drafted who'll outperform him.
I feel bad for Adrien, he's a hard worker. I'm glad he was able to showcase some of his skills yesterday.
I think something IS up: Lakers just waived Caracter, which gets their roster to 14. My guess is the deal is Flynn into the Odom exception + Rox get Chicago's second round pick. It's close to nothing, it will be in the #58-60 range, but then again, Flynn's value is close to nothing, too...
We wouldn't have had to waive Adrien if this were the case. I mean, you could be right, but there could be other players or picks involved. I would hope we don't just give them Flynn for a crap 2nd rounder. He'll pull a Lin on us once he gets to the Lakers, you know?
When you remembered his name....why did you leave the stream of consciousness - backspace is awesome? And why were you typing out your thoughts in the first place? Regardless, anything has got to better than Adrien....I'd rather have a mediocre guy with good physical tools that a tweener with no real position and no real strengths.
Dare to be different, even when someone calls you out for being stupid? It also underscores just how much the guy has faded in my Rockets-conscience. I'm usually quick to remember these names. Must be old age kicking in.
