First time posting in this thread.

Toronto McGrady PER 36 MINUTES averages:
    2 blocks, 1.5 steals, over 8 rbs a game.

After Toronto those numbers went down, and his assists and points went up.
Meaning, you can conclude that McGrady had SOME defense oriented approach in Toronto, and much more offensive oriented after that.

Compare to Paul George this year PER 36 MINUTES averages:
    0.7 blocks, 1.3 steals, 6.4 boards a game.

Defense is more about POSITION and contesting shots, not STATS. Though you don't get a block and a steal off the bench without ability.

McGrady AFTER Toronto turned into typical NBA chucker diva extraordinaire, but I don't agree with Vogel's statement.

Last 2 games after one GIGANTIC 15 point game.

    0 points on 1 shot.

    7 points on 6 shots.

Oh, and 2 losses (for those whinning that his stats don't matter)

Hurt again? Or just doesn't give a damn? I choose the latter.

Tracy just sucks balls this year. He is STRUGGLING big time especially making shots as he will always be able to make plays.

and he is barely playing 18 minutes which to me is a joke when Radmanovich plays well over 20

Shame. I've always enjoyed his jump shots and his release, as much as I hate on the guy.

Except for the fact that despite what it LOOKS like, McGrady is shooting a career high FG% this year (46.7%)

His next highest is 2 Orlando years at 45.7%

He also averages a minute more than Radmanovic.

Yeah just because he takes 3 shots and make 1.5 of them doesn't mean he is super efficient. He doesn't take shots because he can no longer scoer and he is struggling.

his shooting has been way down last few weeks after few 1/4, 2/6 games. His fg will easily drop to 44, don't worry.

McGrady, in my eyes, seems to circle dates on his calendar. Gives it a good go the first two games of the year...then Miami (declined his services), former teams (HOU, TOR).

And I also wouldn't get too excited about his "career year" shooting the ball - 21 of his 50 made field goals on the year happened in the first 5 games of the season. Pretty iffy stat.

Considering he's only scoring 7 points a game, his career high FG% means very little. Production actually means something in this league...efficiency would seem more important if he was actually taking more than 5 shots a game don't you think?

He has a 16.18 PER which is a little over average. At this point he is a role player and I think he is doing well in that.

    So true.

He still has the ability to score atleast 15 ppg with 25+ min.

Other then that, he is underachieving IMO and he could play much better statistically speaking.

I think he should shoot more...

Honestly he is giving up way to many shots, he has a good enough first step to get around players i understand his drawing and kicking to a player and making the hockey assist who can then swing it around for shots but they when his bench teammates are bricking his gotta look for his own shot more.

If he doesn't do that he seems to lose confidence in his jumper so that when he is wide open he does miss. His got the ability to score more and i honestly think it will help his team.

Going by that clip I'm actually impressed with his effort on D and he seems to be sticking to his role. Definitely a positive for that team.

If you put in someone for 7 minutes and he scores 4 points, grabs 2 boards and dishes out 2 assists. He was part of 4 scoring plays in that short stint. He ended up, or at least when I checked last, he was 4-6 with 13 pts. Couple of boards, couple of assists.

Jeff, he is not in there to score. His role it to facilitate and create when necessary. He has to defer to JJ and JS. I have a feeling they are trying to limit his pt whenever possible. Towards the end of the year I wouldn't be surprised if he started contributing a lot more as they get ready for the playoffs.

Are you mistakenly thinking my statement, which was made...3 days before this game, was about this game?

I think it was pretty apparent that I'm talking (and continue to talk) about his season...I'm not going to cherry pick a few games a season and say "wow! look at Tmac! He's going so well!!!" That's for tmac fans to do...ignore bad games, and get overly giddy about "good ones"(if that's what 13 pt performances are for him).

If he's missing games and scoring less than 3-4pts other games what does it matter if he has a few "explosive/break out/he's BACK!!" game where he scores a whole 13 pts?

BTW, what did he do the past 3 games before this one? Hell, tell me how his last 20 games have gone...overall...
