Word. Deron looked like a superstar because he acted like an assistant coach and the whole Jazzhole team played hard.
So true, Deron is close but his mindset is all wrong. IMO if he was a great point guard he would have the mentality that Rose has.
It works on both sides....there's no way to know if Kyle's best days are ahead of him. This could be them right now!! My main point is that Lowry has to consistently play at a high level for more than a season before I'd even think about taking him over D-Will. I'm a fan of Lowry but I'm making my prediction that Williams will always be better based on their games. It will be hard for Lowry to sustain this high level because he must give sooooo much energy and effort which leads to big drop offs like we've seen. D-Will is more built for a sustained all-star career because he's a big 1 who's game is much more fluid and filled with more pure talent.
Ok. I just want to ask you guys two questions. Which current NBA players ARE superstars? Out of those players, which ones can we actually get? It's like, when the Rockets are put in a scenario to get a very good player, maybe even a franchise player, we wont bite, but we always complain about how this team won't be going anywhere without that type of player. You guys confuse me sometimes. Some of you say that Deron is almost past his prime and Lowry just hitting his, but keep in mind that Deron has only been in the league for one more season than Lowry and he is only about a year and a few months older than Lowry. Then some of you say Deron has a bad attitude. There have been plenty of super stars who've had bad attitudes. But instead of those Im gonna name the one superstar that almost every team wants at this moment that has a terrible attitude. Dwight Howard has an extremely bad attitude. This guy does NOTHING but complain. Spoiler This is from a guy who has had season tickets since Dwight's rookie year and had seats pretty close to the action: It's blatantly obvious how mental and delusional Dwight is. I sit close enough at the games to see and hear all of the court talk. I've sat in the same seats since he was a rookie and have seen him morph into who he is today, and it has become scary/sad. It started in the 2008 season with the eye rolls when Van Gundy didn't call his number in the 4th quarter, even though the play would be successful and we would win. He can't restrain himself and focus more than 10 seconds (except when he is shooting free throws). I've seen him almost go into the stands because 1 fan was calling him a bum, after the Game 1 loss to the Sixers in '09, literally being held back from pulling an Artest. He thinks he knows it all, and blames Otis (I'm not sticking up for Otis). I know for a fact that Dwight went to Otis and Van Gundy in the Finals and demanded that Jameer play because that was his brother. Then last year I could see him boiling on the court at Vince, Rashard, Gortat and JJ anytime they made the slightest mistake. He would complain to them the same way he would at the refs. So, we got rid of the bums for him. Gil was a player that Dwight wanted, and we got him. Its easy to go behind the scenes and demand certain moves and then when they don't work out, say "I want out, they haven't done what I wanted." After a couple of weeks, even during win streaks, he would be yelling at Gil, Turk, and Richardson because things weren't going his way. This year is an absolute joke and Van Gundy, and the rest of the team (up until this past week) should be given a medal for putting up with him. Dwight goes to the media and cries that Van Gundy needs to be nicer, and now he is this new born leader and knows what it takes to win. Then, our first home game this year I could hear the awful, cancer creating jabs he would say to his teammates. "Give me the ****ing ball man, geez," "stop shootin so much," "come on man, I don't care if you were open." Etc. He has and always will be the negative guy on the floor. Complaining non stop. It is cancerous and distracting. So we should be happy that he is going to leave the team. We will finally be able to become a real team again. Wherever Dwight goes, it will only be a matter of time before he starts to complain again, and act like he knows everything. - BBill Would you guys still take Howard after reading that? Hell yeah. The only logical reason that you would take Lowry over Deron is because of his contract. Nothing else and nothing more
Good question The All NBA first team is about Superstars and only a couple more Rose, CP3 in his younger days.... now a borderline superstar Kobe, Wade Lebron,Durant Griffin, Love Howard Bynum,Gasol, Carmelo, Amar'e are stars...... Deron is close but no cigar superstar Howard is the only one available.... so it seems...
Salary be damned, I take Deron Williams without a doubt. He's 3 inches taller, he's stronger and he's been a top 2 point guard in this league for years. I'm not holding his New Jersey days against him even though his personal numbers are pretty much the same. I can see Lowry's shot completely disappearing with 1 for 16 performances in the playoffs. Of all the fuss about Lowry's "breakout" year, he's shooting worse than 40% and only 14 points per game. I would also trust Deron Williams making a last second decision with the ball Now if Lowry's salary or appeal would make a big time free agent a Houston Rocket, I would reconsider. But Dwight Howard is not going to be in a Rocket Red, so we should be wooing Williams. We missed the boat of a real superstar when Melo's wife got him to New York. Lowry would be a great PG to get Anthony's scoring above 30 PPG. God that would've been fun.
I clicked for Deron mainly because I imagined him being the force a couples of years ago when we played the Jazz and he was that brute force......going to the hole.
If you gonna mention Williams attitude problem then you should mention Lowrys as well. Lowry has got his own issues on and off the court. Plus, Deron has picked up his game and Lowry is falling off. I think everyone outside of Houston would have predicted Deron to clearly outplay Lowry eventually.
Anyone wanting to 'upgrade' the Rockets by adding 10m to the point guard slot, I have serious questions about their mental health.
Because he's a point guard with no players to set plays for. You can set the best play in the game and fail because your players can't hit open shots.
I would love to have Deron Williams on our team, only if he still doesn't have that Utah Jazz smell still on him...you know that stench that emanates from the Utah Jazz and their fans.
Are you ignorant or dumb? Lowry is by no means "falling off" That would fit Kobe Bryant being older and slowly "falling off" not a young player like Lowry who is only getting better... Wrong choice of words, maybe just wrong point all together
