I doubt he was the only one. The way they speak about it, the whole team (as least a substantial subset of the team) was doing it.
ClutchFans.net @clutchfans Did not see Luis Scola in the locker room after the game. Now I see why: He's on the practice court shooting 18-foot jumper after jumper. 3:08 PM - 31 Jan 12
Sounds kinda similar to what just happened in Orlando with Dwight calling out his teammates, although maybe not (similar). Play hard! Play harder! Haha http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_magic/2012/01/dwight-howard-questions-teammates-desire.html
Thats wat I'm sayin he does that wen calls don't go his way 2 he will stare at da ref and allow easy transition baskets and yea da stare down he did 2 dally is uncalled 4 dat can make ur teammate do 2 things one is shrug his shoulders and say wateva or 2nd it can make dem say my bad and try 2 redeem themselves and since it's Lowry I'm pretty sure it's the first option the 2nd option is if sumbody like Kobe stares at u
Kings are youngest in the league. We're 5th, down from about 14th last year losing Chuck and Shane moved us down. We have players who been around and played together we shouldn't have these issues.
A couple comments: McHale is in tune with winning basketball. I like Scola's attitude, but it is apparent that he needs to focus on what he can do defensively to help the team. Or the coaches need to cover his mistakes. There is also nothing wrong in talking constructively among teammates. When I see a player go off like Beasley, I'm telling the coaches to let us do something about it. No need to go to the media though. The solution is to scheme or put another player in there who understands that help-defense is a crutch. EVERY player needs to man up. Teams on offensive usually find the weak link. The best ball I've seen this year was when Parsons, Lowry, Dragic, Patterson, & Lee played together. What they all have in common is defensive bball IQ. Dalembert needs to anticipate his man dishing off. You can scare a pass-first player to give it to the scorer and then commit to the block. This is a minor complaint though as a block is better than nothing.
The fact they were crying when things got tough doesn't speak good things about the character of this team. They need to man up. They had theseexact same problems last year too.....
Well actually aside from Scola making it to round 2 Courtney Lee did make it to the finals with Orlando.
Sounds like nobody was really a leader amongst the players and Scola finally had enough of it and stepped up to the plate. Like others have said, Luis should be the captain and Lowry needs to learn how to be one. I didn't like Lowry's comments after the game at all, same goes for Lee but he's a bench player. Luis is right on the money for saying players have no right to talk like that. Who the hell is Lee or Lowry for that matter to point fingers especially to the media ?! Hopefully it will end here because it's going to be another Tracy / AB saga if this continues. I want Scola to retire a Rocket, I don't care if his game is regressing, his attitude is the best and to me the one of the most honourable and hardest working players the Rockets have had in years. Let's enjoy him while he's here because I'm sure Morey wants Patterson to be the main back-up so Scola coming off the bench is not going to happen in case of a new 4 being brought in. Loving McHale but I am wondering if he's really being a leader to the team. It sounds like he's letting the players work it out and just tell them to work harder. I'm not sure if he's really gotten angry or shouted at the players, maybe he figures he doesn't have the right to do that yet or he's more calm than I thought.
I was going to put this out, but I figure someone will pick up on it. It is no doubt that Lowry is doing too much talking, one of the reason he sat most of the 2nd half in the last game against Minny. Dragic plays the same amount of minute, yet he gets 9 assists in the game. As a PG, he should be doing a lot more passing than shooting, he taking too many tough shots especially those extra long range 3s. I remember that 2nd Spurs game when Parker just totally dominated him, for some reason he went on a fit. Lowry can do good, if he just plays his game, not play a game that he can't play, trying to outplay opponent's point guard.
Goran Dragic with PHX season 2009/2010 Playoffs: Lost NBA Western Conference Finals (4-2) versus Los Angeles Lakers Won NBA Western Conference Semifinals (4-0) versus San Antonio Spurs Won NBA Western Conference First Round (4-2) versus Portland Trail Blazers
Scola: "Working hard is the salvation of the world." Gotta luv that man ... I get frustrated at times at his recent play, but he is man enough to admit he's not playing good and he's trying to do something about it. I also liked it when he said, "We should ask ourselves what did we do in the game to deserve (complaining) about something after the game?" True professional ... Luis! I hope DM doesn't trade you away.
People were wondering after the last game why Lowry didn't play in the 4th quarter. I thought the decision had to do with the margin and Lowry's poor play in the 3rd. Now, it seems that part of it might have been that Lowry was just mouthing off so much that McHale got fed up and decided to keep him on the bench.
