for his Yao bashing earlier this season. Loved to see it. :)

Yao just did an online interview with sohu.com. here are some quotes:

While Yao's mom cooks good food for Yao everytime she can, Mr. Pine eats more than Yao does everytime. coz he thinks the food is very delicious. :)

    How good is your English?
    I can chat with teammates.

    Are you still growing?
No, I am as tall now as I was in 1996

Does your interpretor (Pine) know basketball?
He likes bb very much. He joined Rockets before I did and had been learning basketball terminologies for 2 to 3 months.

    Are you tired recently?
    Yes.

I think you should step on Shaq's big toe to stop him.
I dont think that's a right thing to do.

    You are very inconsistent now.
It's like when I started playing in CBA. I will be fine.

You have any chance being selected All Star this year?
It's a high honor. But not much chance this year.

How do you think about going against twin towers last night?
Feels like facing the twin towers of Beijing Ducks (a CBA team, I think it was a big challenge to him when he started playing in CBA).

    You growed 5 lbs recently?
Well, when I first joined NBA, I weighed 296 lbs. Then I shrunk to 288 lbs. Now I am 292lbs.

We are all very afraid that you get hurt. It happens to big men.
Yes, I am very careful of that. Make sure not get hurt due to collision etc.

When Barkeley kissed ass, did you see it?
Yes, actually, TNT invited me to watch it.

    Feel comfortable with food?
I like my mom's food. I can stand a 3-4 days road trip. But a 10-day trip makes my appetite feel pretty bad.

    What's your biggest difficulty now?
Sometimes a little shy to speak up. For instance, every player has some subs. If you are tired, you tell'em to get in for you. But I am not used to call it yet.

Isn't it a common practice here not to start too many threads?

Yes it is. In your case, I think it would've been ok to divide the thread up into two separate one's, but no harm done. Thanks for being considerate.

I like that Ming said he "shrunk" down to 288 lbs instead of "slimmed down." :D

you know cato's thinking: so, playing for a billion people every night, no problem. having the national media follow your every move and being in the spotlight 24/7, no problem. doing interviews left and right, no problem. but when it's time to let ol' kelvin in the game, you get all shy.

Yao also said his exact height is 2.23m without shoes which I think is equal to 7'4.
and his wingspan is 2.21m. 2cm shorter than his height.

Well, Mike was first saying "He didn't show me anything at the time I said that". then the guy (former baseball player) said "He only had 2 games". And Mike was trying to find excuses, so they roll the tape found him saying "that guys is 700 feet tall and he can't put the ball in the basket ... " so Mike could only laugh. And Tom made a really tough joke on Mike (maybe offensive). I didn't understand it quite well due to my English. But obviously Mike felt pretty uncomfortable. Then they showed a fake "interview" after yesterday's game. they were showing the footage of the post-draft interview but someone mimiced Yao's voice. It was pretty funny. I can't remember all they said, but when asked "Yao" about Mike's comment, "Yao" said something like "I like Texas and Mike was a cow-boy. wait, a cow-biaaaaaatch". Things like that. Just funny how Mike defended himself at the beginning and went speechless in the end.

I remember Mike Irvin on Best damn sports show. All the other guys were defending Ming while Irvin kept bashing him. He said he was watching him with his eyes wide open and he actually opened his eyes as wide as he could like this and said Ming will never develop either. He must really feel stupid now.

Irvin was wearing a brown suit and Tom Arnold said he looked like a gay UPS driver.

The Worst Damn Sports Show went like this yesterday.....

Just like PTI, they were all shoving it back down Irvin's ignorant mouth. First off, they guy doesn't know basketball, leave it to someone else, but he didn't. They referred back to footage of his idiotic remarks about how he hasn't done anything. "I got 2 big eyes on you Yao, and i ain't seen nothing, NOTHING." He even ripped Cat about it in an interview a few weeks ago.
So, they come back to him and tell him to look into the camera and say, "I'm sorry." He looks into it and says, "I can't, I can't"...."It's just....."
Then the worst part, of all people, JOHN SALLEY, tells him,
"Look, just admit you were wrong, admit it."
John, let's not put the ox before the cart. I can care less what a retired football player says about Yao, buy you ought to know better. You need to be the one looking into the camera and pulling a Tony Kornhieser. The bandwagon doesn't forgive all, not from our perspective Salley.
****** Tom Arnold put it best to Irvin though. "You look like a gay UPS driver." Referring to Irvin's brown twisted suit.
