Yeah and what happened after we got Yao Ming?

    Rockets became relevant again.
Rockets value as a franchise increased.
Another star player wanted to come here and did.

Ask the Pacers what years of mediocrity can do to a team. It's worse than years of constant losing.

It was sad last game. Really, really sad.

Upside though is that we got moved to the lower bowl for free!

They really should have a policy that if no one has used the seat by the beginning of the 4th quarter it is a move down free for all.

We are far better than the 29th best team in the league, so no, I don't buy that. Houston fans just suck.

It's a football town. The Texans still sold out even after a 2-14 season and drafting Mario over Reggie or Vince.

In your opinion what's different about the people in Houston that makes them not want to support their team by attending games?

10 minutes to tipoff and it's very slim pickings in here... someone said tickets sold were better tonight. If so, a lot of fans are late.

Heres my opinion on why the attendance is poor.

    1. Not fun rooting for a consistently bad team. In a league where over half of the teams make the playoffs, and teams with losing records often qualify for the playoffs, the Rockets either don’t make the playoffs, or cant get to the second round.

    2. They don’t have a star player.

    3. This is football country.

    4. FoxSW contract - In the past, you could watch the Rockets on local TV. If you have Dish Network or Direct TV, and don’t want to purchase the second tier stations, you wont be able to watch Rocket games. More and more people are going away from cable and satellite, and are purchasing Netflix and Roku, as an alternative. Those people wont be able to watch games either. Low income families that can only afford local TV and occasionally purchase Toyota Center games, wont be able to see the Rockets on TV.

If you don't watch the games on TV, you will lose interest and not purchase live games.

The Rockets organization makes it really hard to be a fan. Once you lose fans, its very hard to get them back.

Houston fans are a joke for the most part. Never seen more of a bandwagon city then here. I think the attendance will be mediocre all season even if we sneak into the playoffs. I imagine all playoff games would be sold out though.

I know plenty of hardcore Rockets fans that don't go to the games. Attendance is the worst barometer for how much a city is comprised of bandwagon fans. No one gets to see it frequently enough because they are always so good, but LA would be my nomination for city with the most "bandwagon" fans. Those guys know nothing about their own team let alone the sport.

Miami is another one. Guess what their attendance was like when before the Decision was made.

Fact is, money talks in the NBA, and if a bottom-of-the-barrel attendance is going to open Stern's eyes into favoring us more (or at least not taking a total crap on us like he's done the past few years) then that's what it takes. Why do you care if Les makes or loses money? Live fans have no effect on the outcome of a game. This isn't college basketball; the only "home court" in the NBA is the ones that the officials make.
