Everything associated with agriculture in the USA is corrupt as ****. That's not an excuse - just an extension of your "WTF?!!?!" post.

    It's truly ****ed up.

On the issue of agriculture, and monsanto Obama gets an F-, he is every bit as bad, if not worse than GWB and it is puzzling why.

I have no respect for Obama on civil liberties or agriculture, the only difference between Obama and Bush is the "D" and "R" after their names on these issues.

Why would you name your blog "Birth of an ewe, arth." Some kind of pro-lamb bull****, if you ask me.

Speaking in ugly and pragmatic terms, big monolithic agriculture and genetic engineering are about the only hope to feed planet that's already at twice its maximum healthy population. So it seems to fit Obama's MO really well, to my eyes.

I'm curious what sparked a thread about a dodgy blog post from August 2011 commenting on an FDA appointment from January 2010?

It's like we're catching up on past seasons of a popular show....

F Monsanto and Eli Lilly. hope it isn't true.

even so, it's a shame americans are so routinely deceived by these companies (+ government backing them every step of the way) that couldn't give two ****s about the actual welfare of people, animals, or the environment. the chart hightop posted is troubling, to say the least.

Anyone ever heard of an ex-Monsanto lawyer named Clarence Thomas?

After the initial frenzy of the original article based on the Monsanto connection, has anyone bothered to consider Michael Taylor's qualifications for this position?

I can understand the consternation with the revolving door policy of regulators vis-a-vis the regulated but this has been a common practice throughout government for many years.

Where are the experts in these fields going to come from besides academia and business?

At the very least, you can use the measuring stick of if hightop is against it, it must be good.

Wow, a Big Ag/FDA thread. Don't see them much here. Of all the topics that are the most appalling involving corporate cronyism, the big ag/fda/pharmaceutical is the biggest tragedy i feel of all the issues. Of course when both the (R) & the (D) are making $$ hand over fist from the industry of food aka sickness, it is no wonder there are not more conversations about it in the media.

It appears on this issue some people here might agree with that crazy 'ole Ron Paul. BOOO M-ns-nto.

No surprise, the Obama administration recently approved Monsanto's genetically-modified corn w/ Agent Orange herbicide, despite receiving 45,000+ negative comments and 23 positive.

    Absolutely disgusting.

I really hope that the same conservative/libertarians who are so anti-corporation while Obama is president will hold the same viewpoint when the next Republican president starts sucking corporate dick.

People get so caught up in this false "government vs. business" dichotomy that they completely fail to realize that the problem is not either one individually, but the **** that happens when they both work together.

Regulation would work, if any of the regulators actually gave a ****.

So he leaves Monsanto to join the government going from making millions a year to making 400k.. You would have to ask the question.. why? He must be a smart man, so couldn't he figure out the math, he wouldn't take this position for American honor or anything and if he did then there are some damn honorable people at Monsanto judging throughout the years.... so do we praise Monsanto? No we don't because we know they are evil.
