I remember how he was seriously saying Bron wouldn't be dominant in Europe because of his lacking jumpshot and that athleticsm wouldn't be a great factor because of the slower pace.
    Miss him...

Lebron will probably have a championship too before its all said and done, but would that be considered an accomplishment if he only gets one championship? Think it would be considered a disappointment given how dominant he was.

so you're saying players can perform differently at different times? we don't have to revise history to indicate that all previous moments were exactly like the last one we just saw? even though lebron did suck in the finals, he actually did still dominate derrick rose "hakeem vs drob"-style just one round before.

like dirk nowitzki can be the same guy who last year had a legendary playoff run in which it seemed like he shot about 105% from the field in the 4th quarter and also had a legendary 1-round playoff run in 2007 in which his 67 win team lost to an 8th seed while dirk moved around on offense with all the grace and agility of a newborn deer against one of the worst defenses in the league right after winning an mvp? the same guy who sucked in the finals in 2006 a few rounds after beating the spurs in 7 games on their homecourt with a masterful series performance? about a year after he got obliterated by tmac for 7 straight games?

we don't have to now pretend that all of dirk's playoff career has been a series of masterful performances? and you mean we didn't have to pretend in 2007 that all of his previous series had been epic choke jobs? you have given me something to think about here SamFisher.

Simple explanation: someone finally got inside his stupid head and proved to him he sucks at shooting threes and has a less than stellar mid range game. As a result, he is making more efficient plays and getting better floor position for defense and facilitation.

It's about time he started listening to someone other than himself.

He had one of the best midrange games in the league last year, after Dirk and Ray Allen. He's shooting well from midrange again.

It's his sometimes poor shot selection from 3s (which he has cut down drastically) and poor usage of a post game (which he now enhanced) that made him easy to guard at times.

Now he's practically unguardable as you can get: 55% for a perimeter player is unheard of. The only way to stop him is put him at the ft line (which he still is mediocre at) or hope he's having a bad night (like vs Cavs last night).

Totally agree with your post, just like it doesn't mean David Robinson had a terrible career or was a loser just because Hakeem dominated him in 1 playoff series.

However, since when has David Robinson ever been "drob"?? David Robinson was "The Admiral" or "Mr. Robinson" or just "David Robinson." I really hope we do not get into the habit of retroactively re-tagging players of the past with modern-day nicknames. Otherwise we will end up with "C-Drex" and "C-Bark" and "C-Murph." Although renaming Patrick Ewing as "P-Ew" would be quite funny ;)

Yes, I tried to create an advanced stats spreadsheet on this doing a regression analysis of winshares and Roland rating in the playoffs vs. regular season, and Excel kept spitting out "EH HE LOOK OK" every time I entered the formulas..it was weird.

Lebron is judged by a different standard because he is already considered an all-time great. How many players in the history of the NBA have won multiple MVP awards? Therefore Lebron's failures in the playoffs are magnified. Until he wins a championship Lebron will always hear criticisms no matter what types of great numbers he puts up.

He asked for that treatment when he decided to ride Wade's coattails.

Wade had the PER 26.3 in the entire playoff, LeBron 23.7.
It's very clear who's the sidekick.

Yeah I didn't realize 3 PER is the difference between sidekick and franchise player

Also I really like the strawman argument from the Kobe nuthuggers. LBJ has 3 less PER than Wade, therefore he just rides Wade's coattails. You mean like how Kobe rode Shaq to 3 rings? And then Gasol to 2 more?

If Lebron was clutch the lebron vs jordan debate would be legitimate.

He is an INSANE basketball player. I'd imagine he will finish with 2-3 rings.

The real discussion will be Lebron vs Kobe careers.

Funny how lebron nuthuggers used regular season PER to prove LeBron's best player in the league, and at the same time just couldn't admit it when the post season stats said otherwise.

While Kobe was Shaq's sidekick, it's very clear Gasol was his sidekick, and Kobe's playoff PER has been higher than Gasol's every single year.

Yea, talk PEr and True shooting percentage all you want. The best players/leaders on the court are the guys that when the game is on the line, your whole team looks and trusts you to take that last shot. That shows when its down to one play or go home, who is the best, who is the one that steps up and that the team trust, that is your leader.
In 96, Jordan in a game clinching finals match against sonics shot 30 percent or under, there were players with much higher pers or whatever you want to say, stil when it came down to who was taking the last shot, its him. HE played with another guy who shut down the opponents best player, averaged over 20-5-5 and was a top 50 ever guy(including a top 5 mvp candidate the years jordan was retired)...Great teams win championships, so it doesnt matter kobe had shaq or pau, Hakeem is probably one of the only few to win without antoher star, but what matters is and this is how you define hwo the leader is on that game is who is taking the last shot. That is why chaunce got the finals mvp in a starless detroit game, he was the closer/leader. When shaq was at his best, kobe was often still closing games for the lakers as he did with pau. IF scottie had a 40 point game and jordan was off, MJ was still the closer.

    As for lebron and miami
Well, lets hear it from his own teammates

This is Dwades team, I don't care what lebron's PER is....

LeBron has been more T-Mac than Kobe, let alone MJ. But he still has time to redeem himself like Dirk/Peyton Manning.
