Hey guys, Im a new member even though I have been reading from clutchfans for years! I wanted to write this post to let you guys know that Morey has beautifully put together a competitive squad with a great future! Kyle Lowry: i call him the bulldog because this guy bites and never lets go! He hustles on every play and I can see him being the leader of our team for the next 6-8 years. He is only 25 and has a huge upside no matter what people think about him because of his work ethic. I can see him averaging close to a triple double by next year (assuming he doesn't get injured). Patrick Patterson: Even though he is still injured from the surgery, He has huge potential! He has the ability to bang down in the paint or step back and hit the midrange jumper. I can even see him developing a 3-point shot to his arsenal. His body type automatically makes him have huge upside of defense....but he needs get stronger and quicker in order to post up defend other 4s. Courtney Lee: He should be a starter in this league no matter what others think! He is a defensive machine and he has the craziest ups (rockets on his shoes). He is 26 so he still has a few years of upside before he starts to regress. I would say that he is a solid player and needs to just keep improving his slashing and just bball IQ because his jumpers are awesome and he has some crazy quickness. Others that I like: Dragic, Parsons, and Morris (give him time and he will also develop in 1-2 years). It is important to mention that all of the 09 busts are trash players and I think that none of them will get resigned...maybe JHill, but with a cheap contract. This will cause us to have ridiculous cap space to just throw at any free agent star. On top of that, we have martin and scola as trade bait for a high draft pick or just pair them up with the 09 expiring contracts to swing for a trade to bring in a major player. We have multiple draft picks in the future as an added bonus to our trade bait. Yes, we are stuck in mediocre land for now and have been for a few years...but not for long. We have so many options to move on our future and Morey has done a fantastic job so far. I wouldn't be surprised if a major trade came on the deadline in a few months. Let me know what yall think!
I agree. The corollary from your post is that Scola/Martin/Dalambert are not part of the future. What should management do with them? Trade? keep them around as tutors to keep-up winning culture? Also, do you see Lull and Monta as pat of the future. it is a bit hard to say with those euros... but Monta is 7ft with skills and lull was better than Rubio in Europe...
Bud is a good player but he is definitely not a starter in this league. He is and always will be a backup and I think he will be traded because the bud type player is very common and easy to find. He would be an awesome trade bait in a huge deal tho!
Scola and martin are definitely not in the future (I mean they will be traded between the trade deadline in the next few months to the trade deadline at the end of offseason) But when it comes to Dalambert, I can see him being a Mutumbo type and sticking with the Rox for the next few years. I can see him retiring here actually. He is a very solid big man and those are very hard to come by in this day and league. He is also cheap and we can slide him to the backup Center position if we end up trading/drafting a cousins type young and raw center. I dont see Lull anywhere in the future but I do see Dmo popping up within the next 1-2 years. I think he needs to develop in Europe but he has the length and athletic ability. Pair that up with his confidence and motivation and you have a young and emerging starter within 3-4 years
Players like Lowry, Lee, Parsons, Patterson, Dalembert I see as being vital parts to this teams success. All of the guys from the '09 draft are just taking up space and should be dealt at the trade deadline, don't really see any being apart of this team next season. Also players like Martin and Scola need to be dealt as well especially with Scola on the decline and them both being defensive liabilities, even though McHale says that Martin has bought into playing defense I feel like Lee would make this team better as a starter(which should get a contract about like Lowry's). Dragic is a nice player but I just don't see them retaining him at the end of the season cause he'll demand starters salary and we already have Lowry on a bargain contract at 5.75 mil per year. Also as good as Parsons has been this year I think he's the best SF we have but should be a guy coming of the bench. Still not sure about Morris with his ankle injury, but wouldn't mind sending him away in a trade if he brought back better value for the team. Definitely can't wait for Motiejunas to come over next year will be a great addition. As far as Llull is concerned I think that he can become a player like Dragic has been this year for us next year especially with the expiring of him and Flynn being declined. He said he didn't want to come over to sit on the bench so next year would be perfect. My question is what do you think the Rockets can get at the trade deadline using players like Dragic, Flynn, Martin, Williams, Budinger, Scola, Hill, Thabeet, possibly Morris in a blockbuster trade? Also right now we have NY 1st #9 and MIN 2nd #44 in this years draft and possibly both Motiejunas and Llull coming over. Who do you think the Rockets should target in the draft to improve the team? What potential free agents should Rockets target? Around our picks as it stands I'm thinking SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to bring defense and leadership and C Festus Ezeli to bring defense and size up front. Free agents Batum(which I believe they'll retain) and R. Lopez(if we can't get a center in the draft.
