Yep, thanks for clearing that up. I like the moves so far. And when I said "just another wasting vet" I meant he is a part of a general group of guys getting older who's production is declining.
Lance Berkman slugged .410 in 2010, including a robust .349 with New York after the trade deadline. So the Cardinals were idiots to give him an $8 million contract for 2011, right? Oops. Rebounds happen all the time in baseball, which is why you have to look at more than one year of production. In this case, with the risk so low ($600k, non-guaranteed deal), why not take the chance?
