I am gonna go on record as saying keeping Scola would be a better than trading for Amare Stoudemire at this point in boths careers. As a matter of fact if I was another club I would stay away from Amare and his contract and view Scola as a valuable powerforward compared to Amare who both give you about the same defense and offense.

Carmelo Anthony is another thing. He has something left and would be the better version of Kevin Martin. No defense but can be even more imposing of offense than Kevin Martin ever was. Amare? Is probably finished when his point per game is nearly down by 10 points since last year.

That would be a strong lineup.

We'd at least be able to consistently make it out of the first round, as opposed to Anthony's constant "1 and dones."

I'd take Melo. But depends on who the Rockets are going to give up.

    No, thanks.
Kmart+Scola is slightly better than Melo+Stoud.

Kevin Martin can actually play within the flow of the offense. KM also plays at the sg position, where you can have guys who are not good defenders (see Ray Allen). Melo plays at the sf spot but he doesn't really do anything aside from chuck shots. He can't make 3s, he can't pass and he can't defend, you really want that guy as your most expensive player? A team lead by Carmelo ANthony will never go anywhere.

He went to the WC finals....... but yeah..... you have to pair him up with better allstars than Amar'e.... I agree to win

He is not as good as advertised but he's still Top 2 lethal scorer and very clutch.

Both are really good players when put in a system that adheres to thier strengths.

Carmello is a beast power three post up player, yet now all he does is shoot jumpers.

Amare is a beast pick and roll guy, but needs a good PG to make it happen.

Dantoni's system is very good with one of the GOAT point guards and a stacked roster at 1-5, but without all that, he is just a terrible coach.

All and all, I don't think you could come up with a worse mix of players if you tried, from a synergy standpoint. They just don't fit together, and on top of that have terrible depth.

Neither guy is a dominant defener, which is something Wade/Lebron can fall back on, despite a non ideal fit there.

On top of all that, they are both max paid guys leaving practically no room to go out and add pieces.

If I had to pick one for here I would pick Carmello, because he is more durable and plays a position with less overall talent in the league.

I wouldn't mind having Amare at all. He's a suped-up version of Scola, especially if he can put up numbers pre-Melo trade.

I would love to see him P n R with Lowry. Better fit than Lowry and Melo, who will flat out dominate the ball.

MELO!! Morey get it done! He is a star you can build around but I agree, melo and stoudemire are not the problem.

    Neither - none - nada !!

Character matters, and these guys do not have it.

We don't need any more character on this team as we much as we need an All Star player.

I don't recall Steve Nash or his coaches show anything but desire to have Amare (back) on their team. I seriously doubt character and lack thereof was an issue as it was financial and health.

Well, put me on your list of suspicious, because if you would not take Carmelo on a team with great players around him then you don't know bball. You're on my suspicious list because you wouldn't take him....

I'm sure if you asked Morey who he would rather have, he wouldn't hesitate to say Carmelo and it'd be the truth.

And Hasheem Thabeet averaged 3 blocks in college. The NBA is like 5 levels higher than NCAA.
