Well, what do you like to do? There are dozens of opportunities out there.

I volunteer at Warped Tour every year for Music Saves Lives. If you're into giving blood and chillin' at concerts, this is for you, brah! http://www.musicsaveslives.org/

Habitat for Humanity is also really fulfilling, especially if you're a hands on type of person. It was really tough to complete, however, since they made us wake up really early and work throughout the day.

They have clean up projects all throughout Houston, brah, you just have to look for it.

You can do random volunteer work at the Houston Food Bank, or you can make a commitment in Memorial Hermman, two examples I've explored.

There are so many places out there where you can just show up and say: "I'd like to work as a volunteer here" that you aren't even sounding like you're serious. It seems to me that you are probably doing it wrong... or for the wrong reasons. I surely hope you're not.

If you are serious good places are: Libraries, elementary schools, shelters, women's centers, etc.
 This is how you've become good at basketball? We should ALL volunteer!
