If Wade says he wants Mario back you give him mario back.

Mario would have been a monster this year if healthy with at least 15+ sacks. People keep saying Brooks Reed played his position but actually Barwin moved over and Brooks took his spot. Then Barwin got 9.5 sacks.

You could say the same about a lot of teams without their star receiver. Until the Rams traded for Lloyd, their receiving corp was garbage.

yeah, I think a lot of people forget how good Mario was playing before he went down.

    The Rams aren't very good.

The point is to have a great receiving corp, not the same crap most other teams have.

I'm not saying that's possible, or that you do that over signing Mario. Just that, just because many teams have crap receiving corps without their #1 guy, doesn't mean it shouldn't be an area of focus. Especially given AJ's injury this year.

If there is some way you could get something for Mario, but I don't know if that is possible. If not, I would still not sign him and use the money elsewhere. I have never been a fan of his. Incredible physical specimen, but lacks something like a high revving motor. Disappears in some games. Need a big time receiver.

It's pretty much impossible to trade Mario. If we sign him, chances are that means we agreed to a reasonable deal. If we franchise him, we'd have to trade him before July 15th. Chances of anybody wanting to trade for an expensive 1-year rental coming off of season ending surgery are slim.

they have a big time receiver...they just need an above average #2 guy.

I don't think the texans need to lock up big money in a WR. Mario was beasting early in the season and he barely knew the system

Our "big time" receiver is oft injured and getting a bit long in the tooth. Imagine how lethal the offense would be with two speedsters to throw to.

Get another good WR. The defense doesnt need Mario's help, make the offense better! Wish Texans would do both but if its one or the other, sign a WR.

Good call. Michael Floyd reminds me of Michael Irwin in his Hurricane days.

Don't disagree with bringing back Mario, but the weak schedule thing can really be ignored. The defense can always improve, but they already pass the eye test for me as an elite, Top 5 defensive unit. In the most important games of the year, held Cincy to 10 and scored a defensive TD; and held Baltimore to just 6 points that weren't off TO's, and won a goal line stand against Ray Rice. Yea no TO's, but the Ravens were much more conservative offensively than the Texans in that game, and there were a few balls that squirted out but didn't go our way.

Floyd isn't the speedster some people here are calling for, but he's still a pretty damn good WR that can go up and get it. He's also a fantastic run blocker, which would mesh well with the Texans running game.

Don't know if the Texans will take someone with some warts on his character resume.

No, he is not a pure speed WR, but he is one of the better college WR of going and getting the ball in the air. That is something that cannot be taught. Don't know if his head is screwed on right though, so still not sure about using that 1st round pick on him.

I want the Texans to resign Williams. Good pass rushers like him do not grow on trees, and while we did do well without him, I honestly believe they can be even better with him. Plus everyone can stay very fresh with a decent rotation, providing constant pressure all game. I know Williams being out for the year was a bad blow, but most everyone else on the line stayed pretty healthy last year.

WR is important, but honestly the Texans mostly just need a speed/deep threat other than AJ and either Daniels to be a bigger part of the offense or another TE who is.

Next year's schedule looks just fairly daunting too:
    1. Houston Texans
Home: Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings

Away: Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions

Other than divisional games, only "gimmie's" are Vikings, Bills & Miami and all those ROAD games will be tough.

Being deep on the lines, especially D-Line will be key to get Home field next year.

In their first 4 years of existence (2002-2006) the Texans were terrible defensively.
They gave up and AVG of 23.5PPG and 353YPG.

They then spent the #1 overall pick on Mario Williams in 2006 and gave him a 6 year $54 million dollar contract. The change in the defensive numbers were remarkable.
For the next 4 years the defense gave up 23.8PPG and 344YPG.

Mario Gets injured in 2011 and Brooks Reed / Barwin step up to fill this huge void left by Mario. They do pretty good and the defense gives up only 17.4PPG and 285.7YPG.

WHAT AN IMPACT PLAYER!!! We need to resign Mario Williams IMMEDIATELY. He obviously has such an effect on how well our defense plays that we need to pay him the $15 million plus a year he will command.

Why get a WR for Matt Schaub. I mean the guy is 100YPG better and 7PPG better than his predecessor (Carr). He obviously does not need any wide receivers because we are already the top 3 offense in the league since 2008. In the first 3 rounds of the draft since Schaub arrived the Texans have spent only 2 of those picks on offense. Not a first rounder on offense since Andre Johnson. Why start now?

Yeah...Loved the way he blew up Dallas Clark twice...

He was pretty dominant in the Pittsburgh game...but other than that?

I did not see a guy the Texans need to spend $15 Million plus a season on.

Brooks Reed, while nowhere near the athletic ability of Mario, is a much smarter football player. He will bat down more passes, blow up screens, and still get his fare share of sacks. He was also improving against the run towards the end of the season.

Dumb comparison. They don't play the same position. Is Brooks Reed better than Connor Barwin? Is Connor Barwin better than Mario Williams?
Reed played Barwin's position, and Barwin played Mario's position.
