Barkley played hard for the Rockets, he was more of post up player in 99.

    Barkley with Suns:

I see; he couldn't live up to expectations and blamed others for it. I can believe that. Probably have to watch the games to get a full idea. Thanks

The Pippen signing sent the Rockets to the dark ages. We were forced to trade him. We got Portland's garbage for him. Lesson learned, don't sign really old players to a big contract.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/aponline/19991002/aponline174256_000.htm

In a deal that had been rumored for days, the six-time NBA champion and seven-time All-Star was traded to Portland on Saturday for Kelvin Cato, Stacey Augmon, Walt Williams, Ed Gray, Brian Shaw and Carlos Rogers.

Pippen, 34, signed a five-year, $67 million contract with the Rockets before the lockout-shorted 1999 season began. But he never fit into Houston's low-post oriented offense, and competed with stars Hakeem Olajuwon and Barkley for looks at the basket.

What this video reminds me of is how far away our current squad is from having that kind of exposure, recognition, prestige & star power.

I guess I hadnt thought about it, but we definitely had a big three of our own, even if the personalities and chemistry didn't net us another championship.

Thanks Yao11 and Clutch. I was "too young to remember".

I'd figure someone like Pippen would relish the opportunity to prove he can win it all without MJ whilst also be the being the first option of a veteran-big-3. Instead he just deferred and blamed someone else for his misfortune.

B.A. for Barkley being professional (and comical) in that interview.

One bright spot of Pippen from that series:
