I get what you are saying. It seems as if they are gaining chemistry earlier than last season and when chemistry calls, the Rockets answer.

and yet there's not a guy on the roster who makes me think the future is bright because of his presence there. everyone of these guys has been regarded as an #asset and we've taken a bunch of fliers on a bad draft class.

i think lowry is a nice player, and I really like his game...but i don't think lowry is the kind of player you build around. lowry and this bunch together aren't going to get us anywhere but back to around the 8/9 seed in the West. lather. rinse. repeat.

I agree with you in principle, but I think Lowry is a championship-caliber PG. He's got that Pistons' era Billups mentality and production to back it up. The rest of the pieces on the team are easily replaced - even a guy like Martin, while good, is primarily a high level scorer with not much else. Those guys can be always be acquired

He's not a superstar you build around, but I think he can be a key cog of the plan. Probably a solid #3. The problem is, we don't have a 1 or 2.

I got a problem with the Lowry love, I fear it might be the same thing that happened when CP3 got injured and Collison put up huge stats and looked like a top 5 PG suddenly.
PGs on bad teams tend to have very inflated stats when the system is made for PGs.
Sure lowry looks great now, but what if he was playing on a contender and wouldn't have the ball in his hands that much?

nope, lowry is not championship caliber, maybe as a bench player, but if lowry is your starting pg on a championship team, u r in trouble.

So... Fisher and aging Kidd are both better than Lowry? I feel like you are making an All Star team...

Calling Lowry a "nice" player is completely ignoring the second half of last year and the first 5th of this one. He's a top 5 pg in the league at this point. Of course, he's not going to do it alone, but neither is Deron Williams with the Nets or Chris Paul last year with the Hornets. Personally, I'd rather stick around the 8/9 seeds and hope that our current players do something that makes them attractive to other teams given the other options out there. You think the Rockets are irrelevant now, just wait until they become the Clippers (before this season) or Nets.

I'm not sure why people are under the assumption that high draft pick = sure thing that will lead team to championship.

I would agree if he only produced stats, while not making the team better. But - stats aside - from what I have seen, every time he plays, the team does so much better than when he is not on the floor. I haven't seen us getting destroyed while he was on the floor, really.

Won't we have a ton of cap space next offseason? If we can get a good draft pick and a top free agent next to Lowry...the future doesn't look so bad.

So, you are saying Lowry's stats might look better but the team might actually be worse, hmmmmmm....now where did I hear that?

i don't think it's a sure thing. i've said here a million times, there are no guarantees no matter what path you choose. but even Morey's on record saying it's a helluva lot easier to rebuild when you have higher draft picks than when you have lower draft picks. i think it's pretty self-explanatory as to why.

i'm not downgrading what lowry has done. i think he's absolutely the best on the team, and i don't disagree with the notion that he's in the top 5 PG's in the league. but he's not the kind of player you build around...and i'd be willing to move him if it meant acquiring that kind of player.

btw...just put a $5 bid on tickets at flashseats for tonight's game...and got an email back accepting the bid immediately. taking the boys tonight.

I don't understand why everyone doesn't have this Redstaag on ignore already lol.

Yeah you're right, that also means that every single team outside of the northwest division is mediocre and can't compete, like the Lakers, since they have 0 quality road wins combined.

Not sure where you are getting that, the Lakers have nothing to do with the discussion on the Rockets.

The Lakers have 3 players on their team better than anyone on our team.....by a LONG LONG way.

I still think we could beat them, this year, in a home field advantage 7 game series. I seriously think so.
