You know what, forget comparing this bad boy to Christmas movies...A Christmas Story is the proverbial stick of dynamite in the lake of Christmas movies. This classic is one of my top ten movies of ALL time.

This truely is a work of pure genius that must be enjoyed multiple times to understand its brilliance...

As a child growing up, I would see the commercials for this movie on channel 20 (Paramount?) every year for at least 10 years.

I always saw the one clip where Santa kicks the nerdy boy in the face and he falls down a slide, which would always cause me to erupt into laughter.

But I never actually watched the movie.

What does that have to do with this thread? I have no earthly idea. Its just funny to me b/c my little sister and I were talking about how that commercial used to crack me up when we both visited our parents over Thanksgiving.

Don't knock it, man. I had never seen either film until I moved to the States. I was missing out. A Christmas Story *rocks*. In fact, we may have to get both of them on DVD just so Elvis can have the Xmas he's accustomed to.

Well, he can't really have *that*, since it's midsummer and we're having a barbeque for Xmas dinner. But close, anyway. ;)

There's not a Christmas that goes by where I don't watch A Christmas Story and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation at least once. They are staples of the holiday season.

One of my favorite all time movies. Great quotes from this movie:

"Randy, show me how the piggies eat". - Ralphie's Mom

"I can't put my arms down!". - Randy

    "Some men are Baptists...others Catholics...My
father was an Oldsmobile man." - Ralphie

"He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny"! - Ralphie's Father

and my personal favorite (drum roll please) ............

    Oh fudge!!! - Ralphie

The best part is when they go to the Chinese restaurant for dinner and the staff sing 'Deck the Halls'. 'Fa ra ra ra ra...'

The ensuing converstaion when Ralph lies to his mom about where he leaned the "F" word and she calls that poor kids mom...

    "WHAT...WHAAAAAT!!!"

Hey ROXRAN, how do you think the operator would have reacted to THAT?

Actually, the name is Scut Farkus (at least that's how writer Jean Shepherd spells it in all of his books). If I ever have a kid, I'm going to name him Scut.

    This is my favorite line:

    "It . . . . it . . . . . it was . . . . . . SOAP POISONING!"

The look on his face after this sequence ends is priceless

Did anyone notice that Peter Billingsley (Ralphie) was a producer on the last Jon Favreau/Vince Vaughn movie Made? If you watch the DVD, he's in the special features documentary.
