I love those incredibly deep threes he takes; they're starting to become a regular go-to shot of his.
Trollish title? I would like to hear the OP's definition of taking it deep, because I can tell you from where I come from it means taking it to the rack or backing your man down deep... in the paint. That's in basketball terms of course. And this is nothing new about Lowry, he was doing it last year.
IIRC, a couple of his long threes were quick open shots to set up a 2-for-1 situation at the end of the quarter. Luckily they went down. His shooting is looking good so far this year.
I'm not sure why McHale doesn't run some plays that get Kyle open just inside the halfcourt line. Maybe set a pick at half court and let Kyle shoot from there?
He usually takes that shot as the shot clock winds down. This is what I like about Lowry's shots. He's a true point guard. He can get his shot any time, but he defers until the last moments, and he makes the shot with confidence.
I think most players can get that shot any time. Most defenders aren't going to stay that high on you, especially if you are a risk to dribble and drive. It's just Lowry's strength. That distance isn't a big challenge to those players who have the strength to shoot the ball from there. If you're not strong enough, you'll fling the ball too much and lose your shot mechanics, less likely to hit it.
The lower the time and the deeper he is, the more confidence I have it's going in the hole with ease. Paging Carl Herrera, paging Car...never mind.
Indeed. He has vastly improved on taking it deep, though I think we all can agree his bread and butter is getting deep penetration... down the lane that is. That little bowling ball.
And he's not shy about shooting those either. Mid range needs some work, but he probably knows what he has to do and will work on it.
LMAO at this title. I really had no idea what to expect when opening this. However, he does seem to be making more of those 3's than he is missing. Lowry is a superstar in the making.
