That sounds great B. Saturday-Dec.14/Sunday-Dec.15 Saturday-Dec 28 Good dates. Are we going to eat at a restaurant afterwards or on campus?
I'll be in Fort Worth on the 28th. Too bad...I am looking forward to meeting you guys one day. Especially drapg. We can talk about The Sopranos and being unemployed in an employed world.
Do any of you have a membership to 24 hour fitness? I talked to Grega and we might try to get some games in this Saturday, well before the Rockets game. I'm thinking the Meyerland location would be good since it is close to the Compaq Center, and they have some average players there. Only bad thing is it is $15 for non members. I think we should still try to have some big groups on the 14th/15th and the 28th. Hopefully Heyparnter will be able to get back to us soon on whether or not we'll be able to get a large crowd into the Rice gyms. B
That is perfect... I have a 2-week free membership to 24-Hour Fitness and I live 5 minutes from the Meyerland location... Put me down for a pick-up spot for Saturday anywhere from noon to 6ish... Don't they offer free one-day passes to anyone who wants to pretend like they are interested in a membership. The worst that happens is you talk to a salesperson for a few minutes and act like you care about what they are saying. I also know a friend who works at that location so maybe I can just name drop and let a few more people in.
Now that I think about it, 24-Hour Fitness should be a last resort in case of bad weather. There is a few good parks inside the loop that have some good half-court goals open usually. One option is Sunset Park off of Buffalo Speedway & Sunset. I like the Rice option if we only have to pay $3.
Yeah, I think we should play at Rice for the big gatherings. I'm just trying to get something small for this weekend since there isn't much time to put something together. I didn't know about the one day pass, that isn't too bad of a deal then. Don't we have some issues with playing at Rice because we have to have a certain ratio of students or alumni to get in? B
How about the Westside Tennis Club? We can pretend that we play for the NBA. JP Yea I like the Rice idea, i wouldnt mind paying only 3 bucks for all the facillities in there. I hope we have enough alumnis to help us out.
I think that we should make one date and that's it or we just make one after so we have a backup date...or something like that, and about a location,....it should be somewhere near the compaq center...i think that would be the best way...i am in houston till beginning of january so i wont mind which day it is...just pick ONE! Later all!
Okay, lets start by playing this Saturday at 1PM, the 24 hour fitness in Meyerland. It's on Endicott and Beechnut. Listed above are some ways to get in without paying. Who all is in for this Saturday at 1? This will basically be just a warm-up game for the real deal later this month. BTW, Grega, it was nice to meet you at the game! That was the best home game of the season, so I'm glad your first game to watch was a good one! B
It's just off 610 and Beechnut (just south of 59). Exit Beechnut, go west on Beechnut, and it's on the left side just past Meyerland mall (less than half a mile). B
Okay, here is the list so far for Saturday B Sonny (if there are 8 people) Grega (not confirmed yet) ron413 Rockets Red Glare (not confirmed yet) Please reply back so we know how many to expect. We will probably play against some of the gym members also. This is just a chance for some of us to get together and play some ball, not a big event like the one on the 28th will be. B
