steve is a great point guard but c mon we all know hes better a 2.
maybe we could trade kenny thomas and tiito maddox or moochie and get a PASSER who can dish out to steve or yao. like a kenny anderson or eric snow. like when iverson moved to the 2 spot he was once a point guard as well. and mobley would be better off coming off the bench

What true PG's are there to get? Kidd? Stockton? Who would want Norris and his contract?

I would keep Stevie at PG. Ya he is good at SG but he would have to contend wit T-Mac, Kobe, Carter and i dont think he has the size to do something like that. He is as good as them but he is just smaller.

here are a few "real" poitn guards

    k.anderson
    eric snow
    tony parker
    troy hudson
    jamaal tinsley

and i know theres more i cant htink of now but if the rockets could get a small trade and get someone who could pass it would work out great.

well look at iverson he has to conted with all that and he can still put up 30 against mcgrady and carter and kobe and sometimes more. steve would be great at the 2. i know he can cross over mcgrady and ive seen him do it to kobe and carter.

yeah but wouldnt mobley be better off the bench to give the rox an uplift off the bench he would get 6th man of the year more than likely. id rather trade mobley for a good point but we would break up the francis-mobley love connection no offence to them.

the whole reason that we should do something with mobley is because steve can play his position and mobleys better than he can. steve also though is a scorer there for he needs ot be at the 2 spot. kidd is a prime example. he is point guard because he know where and how to distribute the ball. also look at magic johnson another prime example. now the question is do u fit steve in this catagory magic, stocktan, kidd or in this one mcgrady, iverson, kobe???

This has be recommended a zillion times on this board. You said that Frances is a great PG. I disagree. I have watched him for three years. In my opinion he is neither a great PG or a GREAT (hall of famer) basketball player. He is a great athlete and he has some great basketball skills with enormous potential (largely unrealized to date) to lead the Rockets to a championship. I do not think he has the instincts to be a PG. A Stockton, Kidd or a Nash, he will never be. I think SG would be a better fit. Hasn't happened, probably won't happen. Ho Hum.

    Good question.

Why do we need to have this thread again?

No offense Solid, but I don't beleive that Nash is a better point guard than Franchise. He (Nash) comes down the floor and look for his shot first, just as much as Francis does if not more. Granted he averages 1.8 assist more than Franchise; but with the jump shooters they have on that team it would be hard not to.

Because 24, I agree that Nash has some incredible shooters but Nash is the trigger. He makes it happen, directs the plays (of course Dallas has plays) has great court vision, fires precision passes, doesn't over dribble, very intense, focused, almost business-like, doesn't show-boat, excellent fundamentals, excellent timing, and decision-making. He doesn't have the athleticism of Frances, but makes that team happen. In all fairness, the Mavs are a well-oiled machine.

TJ Ford is the answer to this problem. The rockets should get him when he comes out to the draft and have the backcourt of TJ and Steve.

Nash is a much better point guard at this point. He is one of the main reasons Dallas is 16-1. He knows how to run the point because he can set up teammates perfectly. He doesn't get caught in the air like Steve Francis does, and he penetrates a lot more consistently. And his shooting percentage is a lot better.
