I try very hard not to get too worked up about the Pro Bowl but.... I find it absolutely unfathomable that the 2nd ranked defense in the NFL has one Pro Bowler and the 32nd ranked defense has two.
Any poll open to the public (ie. MLB and NBA All Stars AND Pro Bowl) is a joke. Any clown can get voted in. It all went to hell ten years ago.
Why not? It's generally the winners(teams that make deep playoff runs) that get pro bowlers. And it's generally the winners from year(s) ago that get pro bowlers at positions that don't have definitive stats. To spin it another way. Suppose Schaub had stayed healthy and the Texans currently sit at 12-3(or even 11-4) being talked about consistently as a top 5 overall NFL team. I bet you a couple of those alternates would've been voted in instead.
[rquoter]The Texans coaching staff will coach the AFC against the Packers staff which will coach the NFC in the Pro Bowl.[/rquoter]
