It looks like Mobley will come off the IR just in time for the game Versus the Spurs tommorrow night. This being reported by the Spurs radio WOAI. CAT, Franchise, and Ming will kill the Spurs tommorrow. They just play better at home and the spurs have had their woes on the road. Robinson hurt is eye, so dont expect him to take a lot of shots. Just stop "Jesus" and Tim.
funny, when Mobley got injured the Chronicle posted it at 11:00 pm in their game summary. No one on this board posted anything about it for nearly 16 hours. Now when we see we need him back, it gets posted within minutes after a radio report from another city. fickle we are about Mobley. Talk about love/hate relationships with sportstars.
I think it is just a product of Mobley's hot and cold nature. He makes it so easy to hate him sometimes. But in the end, it is readily apparent that he is still the best SG we have and we need him in there.
or it could be yao vs tim and mo taylor vs robinson. thats a good idea i think but cato vs robinson is good also
I think they should try it too..but im worried about the foul troubles that this might give off. oh yea wait this should be in the game thread. I hope Mobley can get off to a good start but I would like to see the Rockets practice the Francis and Moochie chemistry early in the season instead of as late. Hope they are not rushing Cat into the game.
For me it's not a question of loving Mobley. Its the problem of Rudy married to only playing Moochie if Mobley is not available. Moochie + SF on the court is pointless to me, the Rocks play an offensive game where there is no point guard running things most of the time with SF + Mobley (I'm not saying it's bad just that's the way it works), so why bother reverting to something that forces SF to change his role and give time to Moochie who's a liability in most match ups, and force SF to guard someone who's prolly much bigger than him.
What does he do that makes people hate him easily? From all accounts he's a good guy, his teammates like him, he helps the new guys (Pete Mickeal, Yao Ming), he helps the team far more then he hurts it (20 ppg, 3 apg, a ton of praise from the national media), he took less to play with the Rockets, and he actually took less shots before he got injured. He took, what, 18 shots per game last year, down to 14 shots per game this year, and as Ming emerged Cat took about 9 shots per game the 5 or 6 games prior to his injury and upped his assist. What does the guy do to have people hate him easily?
As bad as i felt Mobley was playin untill he went on IR ( Yes i know he was injured ) i cat wait for him to get back. I think he will come back and the rockets will get on a nice roll and reel off 4 or 5 wins in a row right here
I hope he responds like last year after the rest. From all reports, he has been playing on a bum ankle all season and preseason, and he still managed to have some pretty good games. If plays like he did the last half of last season he should go to the all-star game.
well atleast hell be an upgrade at the 2 instead of the Hawk,,,,,, there go the 5 minutes of PT nachbar started to get... damn
You are ignoring the quality of his shots. Mobley's problem is that he sometimes lapses into the mentality of the ISO offense when we are trying to have ball movement. Even when he started cutting down on his shots, he still had terrible moments throughout most games where he would force an unbelievably bad shot, or take long fadeaways with defenders in his face when there were many better alternatives. It's things like THAT that piss me, and I assume others, off. But like I say, he can just as easily have an amazing game and be the reason we win, so he kind of runs hot and cold with people's emotions.
What exactly are these "better alternatives" you speak of? Surely not the clankers Maurice, KT, Griffin, Moochie or Hawkins are capable of throwing up. Sometimes I feel as if I rather watch Cuttino take a step back jumper with a man in his face then some of our other players take a wide open jump shot.
Then I feel sorry for you. Keep in mind it is possible to shoot a shot that isn't a 20 foot jumpshot. KT, Griffin, Moochie and Hawkins may be poor shooters, but if we are running an actual offense with movement, then they can be sprung loose for easier shots. That is what I was talking about. Mobley needs to learn to take what is given to him. He is getting better, I will admit, I was just giving reasons as to why I, and others, might get so easily pissed at him. He is by far the biggest culprit of the selfish basketball tendency.
Well I am glad you are not one of the guys who just hates him for the sake of hating him. Cuttino can be even more effective in the team concept once Yao, Steve and Cuttino develop some kind of a chemistry. Mobley is single handedly capable of destroying any zones opposing teams can dare to play. He is probably our second best jump shooter after Rice. He will help Yao become much more effective in the low blocks.
alright, it shows how much the team needs mobes. Francis appears lost (blew a number of fast breaks) on the fast breaks with out mobes running along side him. HOpe Boki still finds time to play, heck he was putting the ball in the net when the rest of the rockets were havign a hard time.
I think that they should try this some, but I would also like to see Yao vs Robinson and Cato vs Tim.
