It looks like Nikon, Fuji, and Sony are releasing some cameras with point and shoot type bodies but interchangable lens. From there commercials anyway. I'll probably go that route next. The girlfriend has a great Canon Rebel DSRL so I can use that whenever.
:grin: Why are you sorry? You answered my question. I am a Canon hobbyist with mainly shooting events and portraiture, but I would think you need a zoom lens with IS (28-135 ultrasonic?) for far-away animals without disturbing them, landscapes would need something like what's already been suggested (17-40 mm L), and... well, I wouldn't know what else to recommend to you. The T1is, T2is, and T3i's of the photo world are lighter than the 7D and the 60D... do you mind how heavy the stuff could be that's what she said (better, Xero)?
would you mind listing what you have with what you'd like for them? i'm just getting into photography mostly as a hobby but would love some nice gear at reasonable prices. i don't want to derail bobrek's thread so if you'd like to shoot me an email, do it through the board. thanks.
Weight is important as we are limited to 33 pounds total luggage each which includes carry ons. I believe it is due to the little planes we will be fling in from camp to camp (not looking forward to that part of the trip). Thanks
I got the Canon T3i. Came with the 18-55 lens as well as 55-250 lens. Now to figure out all the fancy stuff.

Everything was packaged as one price. Essentially, the second lens was free, based on costs at other outlets.
The 18-55 and 55-250mm are both way sharper than a super zoom type lens anyways. You did really well.
The Nikon D7000 is currently the best crop sensor camera you can get, IMO. Best AF system, High ISO capabilities, and flash system at that price range. Pair it up with the Nikon 70-300mm VR lens and you will get some fantastic pictures.
