First I like Steve Francis and I believe he will improve and we should never trade him. But how would Rudy handle this team if Steve was not on the team. I believe without Steve Yao Ming would be our #1 scoring option right now. Are any of these guys any more than role players? KT, Griff, Mobley, MoT, Moochie, Cato, Hawkins, Rice The only ones who can even get off against a double team are Mobley and Cato at times. These guys are good but none of them are super in the class of Steve Francis or Yao Ming. We have a definate philosophy crisis on the Rockets: Steve must run the offense through Yao even though he is a rookie. He is more consistant and uses better judgement than any of the other Rockets including Steve. If we don't give Yao some room to miss some shots, make some mistakes and develop his NBA skills now we will need to wait for next year to dream play-offs. That may be OK but it is a shame we don't go ahead and ride the big fellow this year.
You should read the Yao=Elephant post...........when you said"ride the big fellow" it made me think of the elephant.
Yao is not going to be able to get good shots until he can get good position in the paint. Right now he's not strong enough. He couldn't even score on Michael Olowokandi. Or, Rudy can change the offense to a motion offense where Yao can get shots in the flow. I would like to see Yao take some outside shots like Raef LaFrentz would do in Dallas. Setting him up on the high post every once in a while like Webber does could get the offense some easy shots.
I simply don't agree. Yao isn't being used effective. Rudy mostly have 1 play for him, namely, high post pick' n' roll. And the few times Yao did go low post and established his position there but often than not he doesn't get the entry passes from his teammates. This is really troubling to me.
