I have my CD's on computer to 'save' my cd's from scratches and such; wear and tear or what ever you want to call it.

Since a long time ago actually.

Problem is that I just go brand new 2.1 speakers that I wanted to test out. Went to my music folder and there was nothing there. Absolutely nothing. I mean NOTHING. Im freaking out. Using the search engine to try and find if the files were moved and to no avail I can't find diddly squat.

Windows Media Player says file can be found.

The only big thing I can think of that happened is when I synced up my laptop to the desktop but I purposely left the music files un-moved.

Im trying one of those check point recoveries but my antivirus is blocking that so I guess I have to unistall that completely. Frick shiet.

    This is lame.

Do a search for *.mp3 or whatever. You may have accidentally moved to another folder.

Files may have been hidden? Go to folder options and check that hidden folders are shown.

At least you still have all the CDs and can reload them. A painful process, but not the dire circumstance it could be.

Still not quite sure why you are 'freaking out'. If you can't find the music files, simply start reloading the CDs. It only takes one reload to start testing out that 2.1 speaker set. Sounds like you may have done a sync 'replace' as opposed to a sync 'merge'.

unhide your p*rn stash. If that's gone too...its time to freak out.

Unless said countless of CDs are your stash, then I'd recommend delete recovery tools.

They operate on the assumption that the files are still there, so the more you use your computer, the less your lost files are in one piece.

I dont know? I purposely left out the music and videos files when I 'synced' my laptop, only taking pictures and games.
But my movies are still there.

try Agent Ransack. much faster search utility than the built-in Windows one.

It certainly does, but since you have the original CDs, you can recover everything you lost. Oftentimes when folks lose files and didn't make a backup they have nothing to recover.

This could be worse. It will be time consuming, but doable.

Are they still taking up space in your hard drive? If they are, then they should still be there.

I don't think you deleted them without knowing. This will happen only if you've configured a synchronizing program to delete originals instead of updating or adding more to the destination. I know SYNCTOY from Microsoft does something like this... but it can "contribute", meaning add to the destination instead of deleting.

If you have deleted a file, it is possible to retrieve it, providing you haven't written over the previous space. There are plenty of FREE programs that can do this for you. There is one I used that saved my life: click-undelete, I think. I believe it's about $20... it will NOT be a bad thing to just keep it handy.

Go to the C:\ folder, search for an absolute name of a song you think you know... or just look for "Track 01." I bet you will find many with that file name.

Who the hell sync MP3 to Windows? Never heard of that of Windows Media Player syncing and copying stuff to your PC. I know it will sync and copy to your portable devices. Seems to me it was syncing from your CD/DVD and didn't copy it over to your HDD. Ever heard of copy and paste? It's much easier.
