Welcome to ClutchFans, Gator... great first post. I'd be curious to know what you thought of his defense while at the University of Florida. (edit - never mind ... I see your take on his defense now)

I think Chandler Parsons is earning his playing time on the defensive side, which is similar to what I had thought and hoped would happen with Terrence Williams. There was an interesting stat that the Fox Sports Broadcast brought up during the game yesterday ... I posted about it on the game thread:

Way too small of a sample size, but right now he may be the closest thing we have to a "stopper." At a minimum, he sounds like a high basketball IQ guy who picks up schemes quickly.

Yea as people have touched in, at least he does a lot of things well. He doesn't get a crazy amount of steals but he gets steals, he rebounds, he passes well for his size. Parsons doesn't have crazy handles but he played the 1 a few times at Florida on a team that went to the Elite 8 so he can still handle it for being 6'10. He's just very well rounded. His shot may come and go but IMO he should be fine everywhere else during the season. Hopefully the shot just never goes.

I was confused at first thinking this was a post by Gater, wondering why it took him so long to post this.

    Yeah me too!

Anyways, great insight. Hopefully our coaching staff can correct his motion if he goes on a cold streak.

If you had to compare his skill-set to that of a current or past NBA player, who would that player be? The description reminds me of Mike Dunleavy Jr. when he was drafted.

Hopefully he doesn't go the way of Budinger in terms of IQ. I remember we were praising bud his rookie season on learning Adelman's playbook so fast.

Not comparing the 2 players in general, just in the speed in which they caught on.

I love how he position and move his feet so well in the defensive end.

I was saying in the game thread, I'm hesitant to get too high on this guy, he has to be a 2nd round for a reason. No doubt, he has been playing great, but I hope he doesn't turn out to be another chase buddinger and go on cold spells

Honestly I can't even think of an accurate one. I'd have to stretch quite a bit. I'm sure there is one out there but I can't think of it. I kinda liked a very poor mans Kevin Durant but obviously Durant shoots much better consistently. Parson's is a fairly unique guy. He is explosive (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdhuLfGcjrE&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLB77858888F14D45D) though.

Parsons and Motiejunas seem to be draft steals what they have shown this season

Why couldn't you say this before he played well and made believers?

Give the kid Credit. He is not the player he was in college.

Also he is better than Bud rebounding, driving to the basket, playing defensive in every aspect and outhustling almost everyone.

He can drive to the basket, followup rebounds with dunks and hit a midrange jumper from time to time.

Last night he scored 20 points without having a played called for him.

As for threes his responsibility is to shoot them when he is open and they are created for him. The only time he has to create his own shot is if the clock is running down on him.

Albeit a bigger stage he has a lot less pressure in his role here than in college and IMO he handles that pressure much better than Bud or Twill. Already he is head and shoulders better than his backups in defense and makes less mistakes while he is learning every game. Imagine that he is a rookie with a really short preseason and no time for practices with the crazy schedule. He may hit a rookie wall but over the course of the season he will only get better.

Maybe a bad comparison, but is this the type of player we were looking for in Eddie Griffin?

    Hell no...

Eddie Griffin was supposed to be a prime Rasheed Wallace, with ridiculous shotblocking skills, to go with Yao.

    RIP EDDIE!
