Would move Durant to SF and pick Zach instead of Iggy.

Griffin is not ready yet. he's fun to watch but he's not ready for this kind of competition.

Here are the pool of players eligible.

    Team USA 2008
    F LeBron James
    F Carmelo Anthony
    F Chris Bosh
    G Kobe Bryant
    G Chris Paul
    G Dwyane Wade
    G Deron Williams
    C Dwight Howard
Carlos Boozer, Jason Kidd, Tayshaun Prince & Michael Redd have already been ruled out for 2012. Kidd may join in some coaching capacity.

    Team USA 2010
    F Kevin Durant
    F Rudy Gay
    F Danny Granger
    F Kevin Love
    F Lamar Odom
    G Derrick Rose
    G Russell Westbrook
    G Andre Iguodala
    G Stephen Curry
    G Eric Gordon
G Chauncey Billups (has no chance for 2012)
    C Tyson Chandler

I read somewhere Blake Griffin is thought to be the only player not on previous teams to have a chance for 2012.

    My final 12:

    G: Rose, CP3, D-Will, Kobe, Wade
F: KD, LeBron, Bosh, Melo, Love
    C: Howard

Hard to decide on the 12th spot. For now, my bet is on Iggy. Westbrook may have a chance because of how well he played in 2010 (better than Rose).

I just want to see Griffin. I think his style of play under these league rules and regulations would be even more exciting.

Defense is important in FIBA. Much more so than in the NBA.
I'm all for Griffin dunking the hell out of everyone, but at what cost?

Westbrook was awesome in his role at World's. The, all hustle, defensive energizer bunny. Season started last year and that went out the window (shows up on occasion, but not consistently like at Worlds.)

His only shot at making it is if the pgs ahead of him don't want the extra wear/tear on their knees. (Hi, CP3!)

On second thought, I'd add Griffin and remove Iggy.

wasn't Kobe the glue guy on the last team? I remember reading how he was the guy who usually guarded the opposing teams best player.

Griffin's defense will be just fine. I'm mostly looking forward to him taking the ball out of the cylinder.

"FIBA rules allow players to knock the ball off the rim after it touches the cylinder, whereas in the NBA that would constitute a goaltending violation."

I can see Griffin being a monster when it comes to that.

    Reported preliminary 19 man roster:

    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Carmelo Anthony
    Chauncey Billups
    Chris Bosh
    Kobe Bryant
    Tyson Chandler
    Kevin Durant
    Eric Gordon
    Blake Griffin
    Dwight Howard
    Andre Iguodala
    LeBron James
    Kevin Love
    Lamar Odom
    Chris Paul
    Derrick Rose
    Dwyane Wade
    Russell Westbrook
    Deron Williams

    I probably go with

    C: Howard
F: Aldridge, Anthony, Bosh, Durant, James, Love
G: Bryant, Paul, Rose, Wade, Williams

    Kyle Lowry anyone?

I mean if he keeps this up I don't see why he can't be a good addition to the team.

I'll put him in instead of Russell Westbrook from the way Westbrook is playing now.

    CP3
    DWill
    Lebron
    Durant
    Dwight

    Rose
    Wade
    Kobe
    Melo
    Love

    Westbrook
    Griffin

If everyone's healthy and willing I think that should be the lineup. Kobe and Lebron would accept the role of lockdown defenders making Iggy unnecessary.

That won't happen though. Someone will be hurt, need rest this summer, or be unwilling to participate due to some personal reason. That's how Aldridge and Iggy will find their way to the team. There's just no way those top 10 guys get left off the team because they were beat out for a spot.

Are you trying to show us how the USA team could beat all of the rest of the world combined?
