So was this article by Blinebury or Roberston? The link on the front, sports page looks like this: Blinebury: Yao can't do his thing if he doesn't get the ball.

pretty mind-blowing if Blinebury actually wrote that article. I mean, it makes sense, raises good points, and is funny too; that might be a first for Fran.:p

Rudy has said he's trying to throw different combinations together to see "who this team is," or something like that. How long to run that experiment is a judgment call. But the point is, you can't cut it short and go with something that works OK until you've tried enough other possibilities to see whether something else might work better.

You see, that's why I don't understand why he's not playing Nachbar. It's beyond comprehension to me. This is a 22-year old kid who has succesfully played PRO ball in Europe. He's not some immature high school kid.

And the "he's only a rookie" argument doesn't work. I just looked at the minutes of the 28 1st round draft picks this season. Borchardt has been on the injured list all year and Kristic is still playing overseas. Out of the rest of the 26 players who are active, Nachbar has played the least amount of minutes out of all of them! Mind you, the Rockets are a struggling team that is trying to put all the pieces together!

To me, this is more questionable than anything else you can say about Rudy's coaching this season.

This column was written by Fran Blinebury, not Dale Robertson.

But the Rockets are just not passing the balls properly.

Rudy knows that Yao needs the ball... I heard him scream out on the sidelines when Yao was on the court "get the ball inside"... Of course they didn't listen but Rudy knows Yao needs more touches... The guys aren't very creative passers and it isn't as easy as it might seem to get him the ball. I mean Sac so the film from seatle and they clearly tried to stop the entry pass into Yao and also to make sure when he got it he was as far out on the perimeter as possible... Still there were opportunities to get the ball to a cutting Yao that did not transpire and a better passing team would get him more looks... I suspect Rudy will work on this in practice but I don't think we will see major changes overnight!

I think the columnists come to this BBS and get ideas for their columns from our posts.

We have been saying this for a while now...

At least twice during the past few games, Yao has his ball stolen from the weak side as soon as the ball was passed to him down low. Yao is not at fault for those steal. Our guard should see the opposing player coming over from the weakside ready to poke the ball away from Yao. Our guard should learn when to pass the ball to the big man at the right moment.

Yeah, its tough to get the ball inside when you have Yao out setting picks to get Steve and Moochie free all day long via the pick and roll, yet never establishing the picker as a threat to receive the ball on the roll.

Yeah, its tough to get the ball inside when our guards dont even look in Yao's direction when he has good post position.

Yeah, its tough to get the ball inside when Steve takes it to the hole with three defenders on him and he doesnt see Yao wide open (because hes looking 100% to shoot, not pass).

Yeah, its tough to get the ball inside when all you have to do is throw the ball about 8 feet high in the air when Yao has his defender completely sealed off in the post.

Oh, and if you ask Hakeem, Im sure he would agree and say that it was hard for him sometimes to get more then 5 shots a game.

Im a little bit disappointed in this statement by Rudy. Either he is covering up for Francis' shotcomings as a passer or he is just a moron. Ill let you guys debate that. :D

If you read carefully, you'll notice that the Chron writers occasionally repeat with eerie similarity something that was said on this BBS. They just never acknowledge it.

Man, i couldn't i agree more. How hard is it to pass to Yao? It's just if they want to or not. Also, Rockets really need to use the pick and roll more. Yao hardly gets the ball when he rolls...the guy is always wide open inside the paint, but Francis just continues to force it up against the big guys. Why? He risks injuring himself. Let th big guy slam it home. Francis is a great player, but for him to be better, he needs to play smarter.

I wonder if they ever repeated anything I posted. That would be kind of funny. They would take something from a clueless guy from Germany who doesn't even get to watch most of the games :D.

One thing I really don't understand, though - everyone except Yao and Francis seems to be shooting like crap - then WHY does a Yao Ming only take 3 shots against Sacramento - that is inexplicable to me.

If I was the coach, I would tell him, you HAVE TO take at least 10 shots.

Yao is too modest, I think. He is trying to fit in. Rudy should tell him he has the right to try to dominate instead.

Give half of KT's shots and all of Moochie's shots to Yao.
