If Pau is your third scoring option, you're in good shape as a team.

Now, since the trade for Paul is off, I would be surprised if the Lakers broke up that threesome, especially since Bynum is obviously taking off and turning into a big time player. I would expect them to try to add a piece or two to that core 3 to push them back into the Finals. Perhaps Stern owes them a favor and will trade them Jarrett Jack at the deadline for the Odom TPE? wink wink

If they can get Howard for Bynum + something (not including Pau), the Lakers make that trade in a heartbeat.

Regarding the OP, Pau is the type of player who should adjust to the change in pecking order without a problem. But if he starts playing passive again, they will have problems. It will be hard on Bynum to be the #2 option every game and Pau will have plenty of opportunities to step up.

And that would have nothing to do with Pau being traded.

He should be the number 1.

They would win like crazy If Kobe would temper his shooting...

They would break up the threesome for Howard if they don't have to also give up Pau.

When the playoffs roll around, Kobe will make the right play.

i doubt the lakers will trade bynum even for howard, dont flame me, just hear me out.

Mitch Kupchack personally scouted Bynum as a high school. Kupchack has stated that Bynum is a personal project, which is why he refused to include him in a trade for Jason Kidd. From what I her, the Lakers are dangling Pau and fillers for Howard, so that Howard can play pf for the Lakers, and form a twin tower with Bynum.

I'm not saying bynum is not tradeable, but if the Lakers include him, it will be only at the eleventh hour when they are sure there is no other solution. The only reason people are quick to say that Bynum will be trade is cos he plays the same position as Dwight. Dwight however is an undersized C, maybe in today's league- he is adequate. But the lakers have seen the great centers come and go

(Nor against the Celtics one year, almost two...)

He's made enough right plays to have 5 rings, more than any other player. Sure, he's always gonna gun. But, nobody in the NBA has won more. Credit everybody else for those rings. But the truth is, he is a primo player on the primo stage.

I can sense a 3-way trade with the lakers rockets and magic if they make a move for D12. We would end up with Gasol.

    Again, WE DON'T WANT GASOL.

    Period.

Bynum, Scola, Dragic, Martin, Ny pick go the Magic

Magic give up Hedo, D12, and Nelson to the Lakers

We get Pau, Lakers 2012 1st and Mavs 2012 1st from the Lakers.

I haven't seen the notion of Howard and Bynum player together anywhere. Sounds like a nutty idea. To say the least, they would get in each other's way quite often.

Houston gets the short end of the stick, again. :(

If it were Kevin Love, instead of Pau Gasol, I'd feel better about that deal.

Especially in his 30s and possibly declining.

Neither do I, but it's something I could possibly see happening. Les wants to contend and Morey's trying to find great talent.
