Who thinks that Morey and Les are tanking on purpose. Watching the Rockets tonight has made me wish that this is what we are purposefully doing. Morey said otherwise, but would he really say the Rockets are tanking if that was the plan. I don't think so. I am really curious to what the perception is. There are a lot of mixed signals for me. If we were trying to compete, why would we fire Adelman. If it was for Twill play then someone else needs to get fired. If we were tanking, then why would we try to acquire Paul? I am very confused right now. Please be easy.
I don't know if we are or not...I honestly hope the commitment is to as many ping pong balls in the lottery as possible, because I really don't see this franchise getting out of this rut any other way. But the strongest evidence, to me, was the coaching change. Moving from Adelman to McHale in the midst of talking about rebuilding can definitely be interpreted that way...though it's not necessarily why.
we are tring to win but we cant. cause jordan hill sicks booty. he cants grab a rebound! i say we make a HUGE trade in the trade deadline
"We intentionally wanted to win in a certain way this year, which is with guys who are improving. Generally, we wanted to win with players who are getting better, younger players."
They aren't on purpose, I mean come on...look at the how many people thought this team was a borderline playoff team. What is happening is some players have regressed and others aren't taking the next step up.
We don't have to tank. We're just not very good right now and won't be very good until we make a major trade. We are a lottery bound team.
We are not tanking. But we are rebuilding. Trading batter, letting Hayes walk, letting adelman go, and looking at the rotation it is pretty clear. I am surprised we have not moved Scola....that will be the final admission. But at this rate....if we can continue this awful play we won't need to move them. But I expect us to be an above .500 team still....sadly.
People need to realize that this team isn't just that good. We aren't tanking, we're just not winning.
The Cavs tanked last season with more vets on their team than the Rockets have now. Jamison, Varejao, Sessions, and half a season with Mo Williams.
The facts: Everyone saw a tough start to the schedule coming... as far as the record goes, I'm not sure what some people expected. Now, are the Rockets not as good as they thought they'd be? That's possible... time will tell. Personally, I think the Rockets will start winning against other teams in the league and balance out (which is what I've hated from the beginning -- the thought of another .500-ish season). But is the front office losing on purpose, and that was their plan from the get go while making a playoffs sales pitch? Come on! Give me a break. You don't spend $7M a year on Dalembert for a 1-2 year deal if your intention is to hit rock bottom and you certainly don't move forward on a $35M a year commitment to Pau/Nene if you wanted to tank all along.
That was our man Morey who said that, which translated says. "yes, we are tanking, but we aren't telling everyone in hopes they still buy tickets" DD
Clutch, I think that all changed when the deal fell through - I can not believe that anyone of importance in the front office thought truthfully that Samual Dalembert ( a guy we ran from 2 years ago ) would make a meaningful difference. While we may not officially be tanking, that is the way it is looking to me. Now maybe the trade cost the ear of some of the players, and they are just not buying into Morey's chatter, and by proxy McHale...and that has an effect. But the start of the schedule being tough, which it is, does not excuse this team flat out laying down so often. The lack of effort on both offense and defense is pretty telling, at least to me. I just do not think they (the team) is trying right now, for whatever reason. DD
IMO, initially, Rockets were not tanking (Gasol trade). Now, Rockets are open to tanking but still tries to win games, so, if there will be a good trade before the deadline, they are still in a position to get in the playoffs and, well, win a championship, depending on how good the trade will be (crossing my fingers). I'm still in the anti-tank bandwagon, though.
exactly, i think because the pau/nene deal did not go through we have a better chance to tank. That being said, we are obviously trying to win, we just SUCK. we get blown out by the 1st quarter, we are not even competitive and we are not even showing any signs (for example, 1 great quarter or 1 great half) i am in full support of morey to trade away everyone on the team besides lowry..i think we need to shed long term salary and try to get as many draft pieces for the upcoming 2 years, with an emphasis on this draft.
That's what I think. Also I think the Gasol and Nene deal was a "they are worth the change of plans". But I really have no idea, just talking out of my arse.
