Selling high means you can get a better bargain than him, whether it's for the future or for instant success. If we want instant success and mortagage the future, the type of player lowry would bring in would someone like Kobe or Dirk. Not happening. If we want to rebuild for the future then Lowry would be traded for someone like Rubio or Wall. Also don't see it. The only way I can see the Rockets trading Lowry is if Dwight Howard is willing to extend here and Lowry goes out in a package for him. But this would be contingent upon the Rockets likely getting a deal elsewhere to make the team better.
Untouchable...... Lowry is a Key piece. He is a Complete PG and has gotten better exponentially each year here. Unless we're getting another tip tier PG in the deal I say no freaking way we trade Kyle.
I dont wanna trade Lowry... but one example where I would be willing to do so... is working a deal for DWill w an extension (or a S&T w NJ next offseason), IF thats enough of an enticement to get D12 to come here.. a pipe dream I know... but I can dream... lol
The Rockets are not a franchise blessed with a rich history of point guards. Steve Francis probably made the most all-star appearances but is probably the most overrated of all time. John Lucas up to this point had been our all time best as far as production on the floor but he was so distructive to the team, he was more than a curse. Sam Cassell may have been the best had he not been traded away. After that the list is filled with guys like Allen Level, Sleepy Floyed, Kenny Smith and Rafer Alston. That group of point guards did not exactly keep opposing coaches up at night worring about how they would game plan against them. Kyle Lowry at 25 still has a very long career ahead of him and has gotten better and better each year. He may already be the best defensive point guard the Rockets have ever had. Anyone that does not think he is light years better than Steve Francis was did not watch enough of Steve Francis. He looks to be as good of a floor general as Lucas, with out the off the floor team destroying distruction that Lucas brought...twice. Right now Kyle is on pace to have the best single season ever for a point guard in Houston and the crazy thing is that it does not look like a fluke. Great defense, great rebounding, shot blocking , running the break and sitting up the offense in the half court sets have all been outsanding. Call me crazy but I'm not in a hurry to give that up. No one is untouchable, and if there is a deal on the table that makes the team better you do it, even if that means trading Kyle. Having said that you better be damn sure you are making the team better and to the point where you are putting a contender on the floor because.
Lowry is really the new cornerstone for me, but if he is the only route to getting a stud big man then it needs to be done. Morey needs to stop ****ing around he has had some nice drafts, but he has passed on some sorely needed big men. Rockets need to buy some 2nd rd picks and just stop of on 6'10"+ for the next 2 drafts one of them are bound to hit. They are good talent evaluators.
would you trade lowry straight up for westbrook not taking into account salaries and all that just a hypothetical
I understand the concept completely... It has nothing to do with artificial inflation of value but rather wether the value is sustainable... Which we don't know...it looks like it but so did brooks... My point is....Lowry is at his peak I believe....he is where he is on shear effort and drive ... Not as much talent as those with similar numbers...there for he may have reached his ceiling. However you may be able to sell him to other gms with the dream of Even higher cieling .... If so now is the time.... I am not evEn saying trade him just asking what everyone thought....I think if it took him to land Howard u trade him and go after d will. But it'd prob just as good to keep him and try and get howard
Lowry charged with misdemeanor battery http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/spo...d-kyle-lowry-charged-with-misdemeanor-battery
Teams that could definitely benefit with the addition of Lowry: Miami Lakers Dallas Indiana New York Milwaukee Memphis (Ironically) Charlotte Atlanta Detroit Orlando New Orleans Sacramento Utah New Jersey (if it's clear that DWill is not resigning) I could see the Lakers dealing Bynum for Lowry and other pieces if D12 commits to the Lakers in the offseason. But the other teams aren't going to give up anyone special. The problem is that Lowry is more of a over-the-hump type player than a build around player. Any team that would want Lowry would already be a would-be contender.
I don't think we should trade Lowry unless it is for a proven superstar. He is already an Allstar caliber player with some upside. He is a 2 way player that our team really needs. I love Lowry and he plays with a lot of heart
As much as I like Kyle, I see him as a I saw Aaron Brooks at one point. Which is a player who's ceiling is around a border line All-Star to a very good player, but never truly star. So with that said I would trade Lowry (while his value is high) plus other assets in a trade package for a player who can become a future star...
as much as i love lowry id do it in a second westbrook would attract more free agents than lowry and is already a bonafide allstar
what does the OP mean by saying "His value will never be higher." Are you kidding me. His value is only going up, right now. Basically, he could surpass Deron Williams. We don't know, yet. People talk about potential all the time. The player with the most potential to improve on this team is still Kyle (a 25yr old kid)...and it always has been...it just took us awhile to recognize that. Kyle has the potential to be not just an all-star...but a consistent all-star and thus a HOFer. Who else on this team has a bigger ceiling? come on.
Prime years for a guard. When guys like TJ Ford were getting hurt Morey said something about small PGs not having long careers. The back problems he's had in the past would be a concern especially with the way he plays. Unlike players like Paul and Deron they were great from the start. Their star calibre play is normal for them. Players with Lowry it could a career peak that lasts a year or a few years but you're expecting a more rapid decline and sooner.
