I knew exactly what show this would be about when I saw the thread title. This probably won't make it a month. No wonder CBS is killing it....
Excellent choices in this thread already. That "Work It" show looks like it's going to be absolutely **** and Whitney is so painfully unfunny it's mind-boggling. That Chelsea Handler show is going to be pretty bad, too. I blame Larry David for all of these "Look at me! I'm a comedian on the fringe of relevance! I have a show based all around my 'life'!" Except David's show is actually funny. Go figure.
There are some pacing and depth issues, but I think Whitney's a watchable stand-up comedienne and I believe she developed both this and Two Broke Girls; so I think she's got some reasonable talent. I really hate reality TV on prime time and I think we're overrun with crime shows, so I can't hate on sitcoms, even by-the-numbers stuff like this.
really? i find those two specific sitcoms to be two of the most painfully unfunny shows i can remember. i don't know if kat dennings is that bad in movies, or if it's just tv that brings out her terrible acting. it's like OK I GET IT! your parents abandoned you and now you're a rude, b****y waitress with a damaged soul. or whatever. the blonde chick is a LITTLE better in her role.. i feel like boycotting nbc for axing community and keeping whitney.
I don't mind Whitney Cummings as a stand up comedian either, but the reason she's good at stand up is because she's not afraid to say anything. The material on her show can't be anywhere near as raunchy. Making a show like Whitney is the equivalent of making a Disney version of the classic drill sergeant scenes from Full Metal Jacket and then wondering why it's not funny.
I'd like to nominate .... <object width="480" height="270"><param name="movie" value="http://www.cbs.com/e/Y7yjBMrTWp3wOoiYrlq_6616KPRv6qXs/cbs/1/" /></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed width="480" height="270" src="http://www.cbs.com/e/Y7yjBMrTWp3wOoiYrlq_6616KPRv6qXs/cbs/1/" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object>
One where the guy got in a car accident and could not pay. So he became the other guys butler. Horrible

you and i have opposite tastes. i LOVE two broke girls and whitney. the shows i don't get are every shows that have weird characters doing stupid things. it's always sunny in philly. I used to like it, but now i think all the overreactions are un-funny, boring, trite. The same goes for parks and recreation. 30 rock. oh yeah, community was another that i didn't get. these shows are demographics based and marketed, they aren't revolutionary shows like people seem to think.
An example of the stupidity of community. People actually find this funny? <iframe id="NBC Video Widget" width="512" height="347" src="http://www.nbc.com/assets/video/widget/widget.html?vid=1372643" frameborder="0"></iframe>
That's like a 30 second outro that has nothing to do with the rest the show. You're going to judge a show based on that? Community is the only comedy I watch.
I am just saying that there are 10 communities out there, and to rate any show is arbitrary. cheers m*a*s*h seinfeld married with children these are the classics. community, even the shows I like, two broke girls and whitney, (I love parenthood too), aren't. They come around every year. Enjoy them for what they are.
Although I hate "New Girl" with a passion, I understand how you feel. I also enjoy a show that I'm pretty sure was not meant for my demographic: "Up All Night". I just like all the actors on the show. I even find the "My Name is Earl" guy to be likeable and I usually can't stand him.
