    (Random, but relative.)
I always thought he was related to Andre Johnson, because they look the same and have the same maneurisms.

Atlanta has made some of the worst basketball decisions over the years.

another prime reason why nba needs to eliminate all these guaranteed contracts... as opposed to nfl where you dont deliver you get cut. These guys sign and get 100% guaranteed on 100M or whatever and stop trying... imo

+1 for always overrated. Joe Johnson is one of the best examples of a NON-Moneyball player.

He impresses people with his 20+ ppg...except that a closer look shows that he played 40 mpg (about 8 to 4 more minutes than the average starter) just to get about 21 ppg. TS% is average because he doesn't get to the FT line very much at all considering the possessions he uses. He gives you terrible rebounding at his position, and he turns the ball over more than true top-tier wings like Kobe. He hasn't cracked 20 PER once in his career.

This is basically the kind of guy you would want as the third best player on your team. Arguably, he's been the second or third best player on his own team a couple of the last years. But Horford and Josh Smith exceled in a lot of ways except volume scoring, which is the most likely thing to get noticed.

The Hawks screwed up BIG time giving him a max contract. That came around the same time that the Grizzlies paid out the nose for Rudy Gay. Morey was probably laughing out loud at those moves.

Something else that's easy to miss: Both of their last names start with "J".

The sad thing is, he got paid it twice. The first time was a gamble by the Hawks. The second time was just stupid. And iirc, it was right before new ownership was taking over. Not sure what the deal was there.
