Going there this weekend and other than the Zoo, not really sure what else to do. Open to suggestions.

restaurants, activities....I'm up for it. Sucks I'll be there while Texans are playing their playoff games so if you know an awesome sports bar I should watch the game at let me know as well.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kids with you?

    Other good things to do:
    Sea World
    Lego Land
Gaslamp area including seaport village and all of the bay area
    Coronado

There are a couple cool sports bars to watch the game at in the Mission Valley Mall (Seau's and the Tilted Kilt). Of course there are probably lots of places to watch the game in Downtown.

Just a recommendation ... Don't go to TJ

I was there recently for the first time. I was there for a convention and stayed in the gaslamp district.

I would definitely recommend the US Midway Aircraft Carrier tour. It is self-directed and there are so many different things to see. It's really cool.

If you like baseball, I would also recommend a tour of Petco Park. They take you down on the field, into the press box, and into the clubhouse, dugouts, etc.. Really nice park.

The maritime museum is neat, also. They have 7 ships docked there which you can climb around on (including 2 submarines). They also offer a harbor boat tour which is pretty cheap and is nice (especially on a hot day).

I didn't get a chance to visit the San Diego Zoo or the Space Museum, both of which are highly regarded.

Stay there and retire. I would love that weather 365 days a year.

Went there a few months ago for work and we stayed at Torrey Pines. Unfortunately I didn't get to play, so instead I got to just stare at the beautiful course every day.

We also rented out the Air and Space museum when I was there one night. Some really cool stuff worth checking out if you are into history at all.

Thanks for all the suggestions. There won't be kids. I will be going with my gf. Blacks beach sounds interesting. Will have to see if the girl is up for that. Would I be able to cross the border without a passport? All I have is my drivers license.

No, you would need a passport and a few wads of cash to pay off the policia when they pull you over in Mexico

San Diego is AWESOME! I lived there a for a couple years. All the above are good suggestions. As for Tijuana, you will need a passport (you could get in no problem, getting back though...) I guess it depends on how long you will be there. Personally, I would not go to San Diego without hitting TJ (much safer for tourist than people think), but I'm somewhat depraved, like fish tacos, and $1.00 Cerveza Modelo Negra
