I really want to normalize relations with Cuba, it is such a great place for Casinos, and they don't have any religious reasons to outlaw, hookers, blow and whiskey.

This is kind of how Cuba went red in the first place. We might want to invest in some infrastructure, education, banking and real trade before we fly in, crowd all the good beaches and treat the locals like butlers.

It will not be up to us, it is up to their government, maybe they should nationalize casinos and use that revenue to improve the lives of their people.

They go to school longer, but that doesn't mean a higher level of education. Literacy rate differential is negligible. They have less income inequality because everyone is poor; similarly, they have low unemployment for the same basic reasons - everyone has a job because they don't get paid anything of note.

It is a fairly poor country because it is an island nation and because of the US embargo and because its anti-colonial revolution and communist government killed what economic dynamism it may have had. But, for a country that allegedly doesn't care about its people, they have used their resources to provide surprisingly good education and healthcare systems for their entire population. Nor have they developed a strong corrupt oligarchy to pillage the country's wealth like the Soviet Union had before its collapse (or, one could argue, like the US is forming now). My point is not that Cuba is some idyllic Caribbean paradise, only that it's government isn't the rapacious tyrant that RedRedemption would like to make it out to be. They have problems, but they aren't Libya or North Korea.

The Cuban government does treat their citizens like dirt. That's why Cubans put their families on homemade rafts and float to the US, risking their family's lives in the process. You don't do that if your government is treating you respectfully and your children are getting some great education. Go talk to some Cubans who have managed to escape that awful place. Your perception will change.
