he's not forcing anymore he's letting the game come to him, he's doing alot of the little things, also him and ming have established a pretty close realtionship on the court( nice pass to ming for a turnaround hook shot) ,and most importantly i think he's getting the lift back in he's legs which will enable him to knock down the threes way more often.glen has been critised alot , but from what i saw tonight he's starting repay the faith that rockets have shown him:) .

The thing is that he is only 35 years old. Plus he has lost about 20 pounds.

If he can keep it up, it will be very nice, indeed.

I'm very impressed with Rice also. I remember when we traded him for Shandon Anderson. In the long run, that is going to be a really good move. When Yao demands double teams, Rice is going to be open almost every time. And he's knocking his shots down. The Rockets should go to Rice much more than they do, especially in the post. If Rice can keep scoring and shooting the ball like he has been so far, the Rockets will have the second coming of the Big Three.

My favorite thing that Rice does is when he stands out at the top of the key and directs traffic. More than a few times out there when he's out on the floor I saw the offense start with him and he'd pass it off to the cutter, the open man, and most often into the post. Never once did he shoot the ball the first time he got it, he'd always get the ball passed to him. Not to say he can't create his own shot, he just doesn't need to.

Glen has seemed to fit perfectly into the Rockets' new offense. He may not be as quick as he once was, but his shot is there and that's what we need (especially with most of the team shooting ice-cold).

I told you guys to be patient with him, Glen Rice will be just fine! ;) He is the hidden key, if as long as Rice stays healthy and continues to play his game he is the difference between the Rockets fighting for a playoff spot the last few weeks of the season, and the Rockets cruising into the playoffs as a #6 seed. Rice is the type of fearless veteran and scorer with playoff and championship experience that can get hot in a short series, win you a game or two, and send you off to the 2nd round. That is what will separate the Rockets from the rest of the young team, a veteran scorer with championship experience that can hit the big shot. We know Francis and Mobley can hit a big shot and are willing to take a big shot, but Rice might be better then that then any of those guys, and that helps down the stretch in the season.

Rice is playing smart basketball. All the guys can learn a lot from him. I hope Rice will be a vocal leader on the court when things are going wrong and point out how to do things correctly.

It worries me that someone named "blazers fan" is extoling the virtues of Rice. I also can't defend the position that he's worth the millions that we pay him, or that he's a great defender.

The only thing that endears Glen Rice to me is the fact that after last year, when he was traded to a loosing team, showed up way out of shape, and clearly was on the downside of his career, he put in the effort to get back in shape and kept 'fighting on'. He didn't give up and retire when it would have seemed so easy, and he hasn't coasted along on his reputation, but rather came back more than he was last year.

Remember back to how dissapointingly fat and out of shape he was? At that point in their career, many former stars would have simply given up and taken the money, rather than put forth the effort to come back as a role player for a team that they had no real ties to (See Olajuwon, Hakeem/Toronto Raptors).

For this reason, Glen Rice is OK with me.

I had no expectations of Glen Rice this season- other than continued poor health, and eating up 9 + mil in salary room. I figured he would be hurt by now.

He has played well- shooting well anyway- a defensive liablility.

I hope he can keep it up. He is not pivotal to the team overall, but can make the difference in a few games.

Defense will win our games- for this - Ming, Frances, Hawkins, and Cato will be more crucial for our success.

Good luck Glen - you are doing a fine job...- Maybe about 6 mil $ worth though - not 9 mil

    tbar,

are you sure your watching the games? rice may not be as fast laterally as the rest of the team, but he is one of the few that will get physical and put a body on his man. his defense is pretty decent.

 I had no idea that Rice was only 33. I thought he was around 36 or something.

Now that Rice has found his shot again he is exactly what the Rockets need. A smart veteran player that the young guys can look up to for leadership. That 9 mill per is still a ball breaker though.

As long as he doesn't hang out with MoT... If that were the case we'd end up with fried rice.

Like it? I love it! A motion offense is completely useless if nobdy can hit the open jumper. Now who's going to pony up and join Rice as a competent shooter? MoT? Kenny? Eddie? Hawk?

    Gram!

I have only seen 3 games on TV- I live in Beaumont and do not have NBA league pass. I have attended 4 home games at Compaq.

I stand pat on Rice as a defensive liablilty. Hell - he is a sieve....The man moves around sure- but is a very slow small forward. That is only a small part of my post. I was making a positive statement about GLen Rice. I am surprised he has contributed- due to health issues. The man is a great shooter.

I remain disappointed at the cost......9 mil is steep for a broken down old player.....

Maybe in the games I have not seen - he is a dynamo......
