Yes, Sense is garbage. I'm currently running Gingersense theme, with ADW and wave launcher. I also removed all the bloatware , that VZW navigator, bit bop crap, etc. Ok, the root process is a bit tedious however if you follow the instructions and just copy and paste. It will work flawlessly Here are the links you neeed Windows http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...ocedure-how-root-thunderbolt-adb-windows.html Mac http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...9-mac-procedure-how-root-htc-thunderbolt.html Remove Bloatware http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...6-guide-how-remove-bloatware-thunderbolt.html Gingerbread Theme, must have Rom Manager, be sure to flash clockwork recovery when you first download Rom Manager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008312 To get the Nexus Lockscreen, you will need root explorer (you will need this as well or a free version, to remove the bloatware, instructiosn are found in the guide in removing the bloatware. There's going to be a file in your system/app folder called HTCLockscreen.apk change the extension to .bak and voila Also, to save battery, download SETCPU, and underclock your device while the screen is on. REMEMBER TO DISABLE perflock when you first download this as HTC tries to prevent you from underclocking or overclocking. Create profiles so that when you screen is off, your cpu is barely getting used. If you need any help, use XDA, android central, or just shoot me a PM. Expect to spend approximately 2 hours to get everything done . Good luck
mean't to say underclock your device while the screen is OFF. don't want to underclock while it's on, unless you want a laggy phone lol
Worked out great. Walked into the verizon store and the first person I saw was the same manager that blew me off last time, thankfully this time she was actually trying to be helpful. The tech first swapped phones then handed it to me to try and log in. I tried creating a new account and again it did not connect to google servers. Yeah at this point I was getting worried. He then swapped sim cards and voila worked like a charm. I love this phone. Had a co worker playing with it today and he was amazed with how fast browsing is on the phone. I ran speedtest while he was handling it and clocked in a 46848 download speed from inside a metal building that I could not even get 3g from sprint. Just plain awesome.
Is Verizon really going to cap data? I've had my droid for a while now and I'm wondering if I would be grandfathered into an unlimited data plan?
Yes, you should be grandfathered. Especially if you're rocking an OG droid. BTW Thunderbolt users. Skype video chat is here http://www.androidcentral.com/skype-video-htc-thunderbolt-leaks-out *ONLY WORKS ON THUNDERBOLT*
I got the leaked RUU file (aka the upcoming OTA update that Verizon is going to push out) if anyone wants to flash it. Will remove root, and I believe VZW can see what radio version you're on.
Can you provide any details on what enhancements/fixes the update provides? And do you know when they plan on pushing the update OTA?

Yup, it's already being included in the das bamf roms, and others soon to follow. Hopefully improving battery life for other who aren't rooted. Likely to be pushed out by May 15 (the day free mobile hotspot ends) unless you use wireless tether root app
Since I basically turned this into an HTC Thunderbolt thread. Here is a mod to get "My Verizon" app working on your phone, including the data use widget since the current version of "my verizon" in the market isn't thunderbolt compatible http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045569
I guess this is related, Amazon has Thunderbolt for 130 with contract for those that are interested. http://wireless.amazon.com/dp/B004M5HB6U
For those thinking to swtiching to Verizon they are to begin offering double the data plans soon Still not great, but beats the current tiers.
Rep told me that going from an old Droid Eris to a new Bionic(and my wife got a 4G device as well) that we should be able to access the 4GLTE speed with our unlimited data plan. But all I ever see on my phone is 3G. Granted we are up in Conroe but our street address comes up as covered in the verizon 4GLTE map.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...heres-how-to-make-it-happen-for-now-at-least/ How to get unlimited data if you're on a tiered plan . I have unlimited so I can't test if this actually works but it's worth a shot
Damnit, people need to stop spreading that before Verizon takes notice and takes it away. My Nexus won't get here until tomorrow at the earliest ><
