If we're going to target headcases, we should be targeting headcases with ability not headcases with talent.

    Translation:

Daryl Morey doesn't want trade talk to distract team further after the Scola/Martin mess from earlier so he's denying interest while talking to Geoff Petrie behind the scenes.

They wouldn't be available if they weren't headcases. Or their value would be way too high.

You would have to think this is a move Morey is going to aggressively push for- especially considering there were rumors last year that Morey was pushing for a Cousin's trade.

If Morey were able to keep Lowry/Martin/Cousins or Lowry/Scola/Cousins in tact, we are sitting pretty.

Everything is risk vs benefit. To put things into perspective you have to ask the right questions.

    1) Is this a guy we want on our team?
    short answer, YES.
In college as a freshman, he was #1 in PER over that last 8yrs. 6'11" true low post threat. He is still the best bet of all the young bigs in terms of talent and skill to project into a top 15 player down the road.

    2) Can he overcome his issues and are we the right team for him?
Answer: Morey believed that the maturity issues were worth it when he was looking to draft him. Also HOU is full of no-non excuse guys that play with grit and passion. Even though the Rox are a young team, they have excellent character guys along with management and staff that have consistently put forth a product on the court that is worthy of being proud of.
I personally think that Cousins needs a change in atmosphere to a winning environment to exorcise his demons.

    3) How much of a price are you willing to pay to get this guy?
This is the big question. Lowry is untouchable, simple as that. If you are Sacramento you want as much talent coming back as you can get but only with high bbiq and character. Our team is full of these guys including Patterson, Chase, Lee etc.
From the Rox point of view, this is the perfect time to consolidate your numerous assets into an "all-in-one" gamble.

    Patterson/Scola/Chase + NY 1st

    for

    Cousins/Salmons

Lol ... What does he know ... No one hardly ever knows what the Rockets are thinking until its done or submitted for league approval.

Morey would never want that information leaked out again only for it to fall through

Cousins averaged 15/8/2.5 in 28mpg as a 20-year-old-rookie last year, and was the most dominant big in the country as a 19-year-old freshman at Kentucky.

    He's got plenty of ability.

Tell me your joking. Who on our team averaged those numbers as a rookie? Then tell me who on our team right now except scola and patterson (w/ starters min) could average those numbers?

If we were to actually get Cousins (which I think we should) then it goes without saying that either Scola, Patterson, or Hill are gone. I think everyone's preference is to give up Hill before anyone, but obviously it will take much more than just him. It will help that we can say he's now a starting C that playing well and young.

To me Scola just doesnt make since to me if im Sac. He's a pf not a c. They already paid chuck, they have jj hickson, thompson, and whitehead for c's. They are rebuilding and getting scola does not help that process in any way.

As much as everyone likes to say otherwise, they will likely not be targeting guards either. They already have Freddete, Thornton, Evans, Garcia, Salmons.

I think they will target draft picks more than anything else and we only have the ny12 pick which looks to be a late 1st rd pick.

    Hill + Twill + Flynn + 2012 1st = Cousins

I think a trade of Hill + Dragic (more experience and leadership than Flynn) + 2012 first + 2nd rounder might do it.

When you have a headcase you have to have the personnel on and off the field to handle them.. I said field because i'm talking about all sports...

We don't have the personnel to handle Cousins and he will tear this team apart..

People keep talking about Artest and other players and their talent.. But you hear the stories and damage they did to a team when they left and a YOUNG HEADCASE is the worst one to have..

What damage did Artest do to the Rockets? He came, had a very good year, and left as a FA.

Did anyone on the team get corrupted by Ron that I didn't know about?

Agreed but from a Rockets stand point i would rather keep Dragic than having to play flynn. Thats why I say include twill in the trade inorder to save Dragic. Flynn tends to kill ball movement like brooks did but without his scoring ability.

    Hill + Twill + Flynn + 2012 1st + 2012 2nd = Cousins

Thats a dam good haul for a rebuilding Sac-town getting rid of a disgruntled sophmore

Source says DeMarcus Cousins will be joining the Kings on their road trip to Memphis and Denver.

    End.

Disagree completely. First of all, Cousin's talent and potential far exceed Artest. Also, I find it easier to change a young player than a old one, like Artest. If we have some veterans, Lowry or Scola for example along with Dalembert, they can teach Cousins how to act. Also, with Houston being a much better team than Sacramento, Cousins will be much happier here and that attitude will increase his chance of being successful. We also have a very stable organization with Morey and Les and no potential of being sold or moved, Cousin's hate for the Kings organization is pretty apparent in my mind from the day he was drafted.
I'm not saying he's a lock to be a star in Houston but I feel that this organization gives him a much better chance than Sacramento.

We don't have the pieces that sac needs. Our best hope would be a 3 way deal.

    How is that the end?

You think things like this just go away?

No one that I really can really say a head case. Thirty are some concerns with Twill. And Dmo was known for a little attitude issues, because he knows he is talented and thinks he is intitled. But he might have gotten a reality check since then. That was reported during the draft.
