Lowry is gritty, puts up stats, and has the intangibles. Dwight has never had a team mate like him. A 2-way small forward away from a championship

Dude, come on. He had a trade idea so good it deserved it's own thread rather than going in the random trade idea thread. You could at least read it and think about it without bothering him with facts.

How about we all believe it will never happen, so if it doesn't happen we wont care, but if it does we can all be happy as a mother*****er?

I like Lowry as much as the next guy but enough about him being better than D-Will. Yes he has had a lousy few games but u guys act as if he is a bum. The guy isn't motivated to play in Jersey.....never has been. In Houston he'd be back to his old self.

How about next time we play Orlando, we don't get punked... that does not raise DHoward's interest in Houston.

Not to sound like a snob or anything, but the OP's cap analysis is way off. Just a few examples:

--I don't think you can spread a partial guarantee with the stretch exception (although I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that one).

--this scenario does not account for the cap holds of any 2012 first round draft picks. The Rockets may have two of them but are expected to have at least one.

--What about "roster charges" for each open roster spot (up to 12)? Those count against the cap.

--Dwight Howard will command a $19M starting salary, based on the carryover of the "105% rule" on max contracts.

--Deron Williams will command about $16.7M or so.

--You cannot use cap room to sign free agents and then use any salary cap exceptions. Giving Lee the MLE is not possible in the OP's scenario.

OP, I'll give you credit for your efforts, though. Nice try.

Those thinking that the Rockets can realistically go out and acquire two max free agents (especially if one of them is Howard, who will get more than the default max salary), you really need to dial down your expectations a bit.

Could the Rockets possibly field a team next season with both Howard and D-Will? Yes, it's possible. But it sure as hell ain't likely. They would probably need to acquire one of them in TRADE this season (most likely Howard, since New Jersey isn't going to trade Williams).

But the posters on this BBS are nothing if not dreamers! ;)

I want Howard, a perfect fit here. Williams not necessary, hang with Lowry.

There's so many things wrong about that statement though:

1)His contract doesn't suck. Scola makes 8.5 million this year, his deal lasts 3 more years after that... ending with the last year paying him 11 million in salary. Maybe the argument could be made that just based on length it's bad...

2)We have more than enough cap space next year to sign multiple players without cutting Scola.

3)We haven't use our amnesty yet. Our amnesty could be used on him since he was signed before the CBA.

This is why I feel much more plausible to fit Howard next to Lowry, assuming Lowry continues to beast and enter the hallowed group of top PGs this season. Lowry makes $5.75 mil.

If Orlando decides not to trade Howard, and Morey clears cap in advance of the offseason via trade some combo of Scola, Dalembert, and/or KMart, then the odds of getting Dwight Howard through FA would actually be plausible. CP3 is already signed with the Clippers. The Knicks have no money. Nets suck. LA have no capspace. So once you get to the 2nd tier markets, Houston's supporting cast suddenly wouldn't look so bad. Especially if we can also fit in a secondary star, like a S&T with Portland for Gerald Wallace.

Another horrible thread. Superman is not coming to save us, sorry it just won't happen. D Will also is not coming.

The Rockets aren't the only team with cap space. Why would Superman or D Will choose Houston over the much hated DALLAS MAVERICKS.

D-will's hometown is Dallas, so I would assume he'd pick them over us. Howard may follow D-will as a result.

Cuban planned for this FA very well. Dirk, Marion, Haywood (amnesty candidate), Beaubois, and Jones are the only ones with a guaranteed contract next year. Wouldn't be surprised if Cuban trade Odom and Marion away for picks and expirings.

    F**kin' Mavs.
