Last year we were in play for Gerald Wallace. Does anybody know what according to inside info maybe or reports it would've cost us and how it would've affected on our draft and signings of rookies and Dalembert ?

Just trying to get a picture of how this team would've probably looked had
    we actually traded for him.

Honestly, what's the point in discussing something that never happened?

Remember when the Rockets could have had Olajuwon, Drexler, and Jordan?

In NBA2k it can still happen, without forcing it and takes care of another player that could happen in real life, though Portland gets nothing out of this 3-way from Twolves ;)

    - Martin to Portland for Wallace
    - Budinger & Flynn to Twolves for Anthony Randolph

I think it was a 1st round pick for Wallace. Not sure.

Remember the trade that wasnt!? Sam Dalembert and Iguodala for McGrady and Budinger. We could have had Dalembert nearly 2 years earlier!!

Could be but I think Morey clearly stated they were in the mix for Wallace after he was traded to Portland and there were reports of us highly pursuing him but cannot remember what was offered.

No, the Tyson Chandler trade was before the season started...

The Rockets were in play for Gerald Wallace before the trade deadline, when he got traded to Portland instead.

Either way it doesn't matter. I would have loved to see Gerald Wallace on this team, but crap happens.

Blazers fans are loving Gerald Wallace, the broadcast call him the heart and soul of the team and the defensive leader. They only got him for Pryzbilla (not playing in the NBA) and a pick. He would've been perfect for this team.

I wanted him soooo bad last year (no homo). Tenacious defender, high bb IQ, and a motor that never quits.

Plus he can throw it down like it's no one's business.

The Rockets could have done alot of things. They could have drafted Michael Jordan instead of Hakeem.

Who really cares about Gerald Wallace? Good player, semi-all star level, but not a player thats going to win you title.

Portland had first round picks and expiring contracts to offer. The Rockets really couldnt compete with that.

Water under the bridge. Move on please.

Wallace would have been a great fit for this team. Especially if it was just a draft choice.

Probably would have been something like the combined haul of shipping out Brooks/Battier; Portland sent out New Orleans' draft pick in 2011 (#19), as well as their own 2013 first rounder (top 12 protected). So to get Wallace, the Rockets could have sent Demarre Carroll and Jared Jeffries, along with the Phoenix/Orlando Pick, and either the NY pick or the Memphis pick; the two packages then would be almost identical.

Knowing what we know now, however, it seems unlikely that Daryl Morey would have made the trade, since he was preserving cap space in order to sign Nene, and Wallace would have put the Rockets out of the running. I like Gerald, but I also think that a center was a more pressing need, and Nene would have been a better pairing next to Pau.

And hey, maybe Motiejunas ends up panning out, and we start thinking about how it's a damn good thing they didn't trade away those picks for Gerald Wallace in a couple years...

Wallace would be a great SF for this team. Plays defense and rebounds better than most SF(s). Would help make up for Martin's defensive limitations.

Doubtful it changes anything the Rockets did last summer in the draft.

Lowry/Martin/Wallace/Scola/Dally is a team that will get home court in the first round of the playoffs
