tribjazz Brian T. Smith Jefferson will officially be game-time decision vs. Spurs. Injury can be traced back to 2006. Couldn't run without limp tonight. 4 hours ago http://twitter.com/#!/tribjazz/status/152978683496366081
Doesn't look good for Al the Jazz won their first game without him last night against a decent 76ers team. He has all season to get himself together.
Ain't no way the Rockets would trade K-Mart (by himself) for Jefferson. Maybe if the Jazz gave up their 1st round pick unprotected.
Please explain how this trade solves Houston's issues? Jefferson is a mean low post threat on offense, but he'll never be confused with Chuck Hayes on defense. Don't let his rebounding and blocks stats fool you. That said, I'm not saying I wouldn't want him . . . for the right price.
I like the guy, but can't think of how he'd fit with the current team or as part of a 2 team trade. Seems Scola brings much of what Al brings already and Scola is probably a better fit if we want to run a more ball-movement bases offense. If the team makeup changes due to another trade, though, then perhaps it'd be wise to consider him for the right price.
At $30 million for this season and next, I wouldn't take him for nothing. If the Jazz amnesty him next summer and he signs a cheap contract, maybe so. Scola >>>> Al Jefferson.
If the goal is to have Scola and Jefferson in the starting lineup, then no thanks. If the goal is to have Jefferson and Dalembert in the starting lineup... then maybe.
please dont get rid of Kevin Martin. It is hard to get offensive talent like him in the NBA. He is offensively very gifted. If we get enough players that can play defense around him, we will be okay.
I dont think Scola can ever be confused with Hayes defense either. Scola and Jefferson are about same on defense but Jefferson is better on offense. Which would anyone take? I just wouldnt be happy giving up Martin for him. Id be happy to do a 3-4 team trade where we give up Scola to get Jefferson. We need someone who can score 5-7 feet from the basket and put pressure on opposition bigs (foul truble). Thats defense using offense. We need someone who can draw double teams down low. Scola mostly scores from 10-15 feet away from the basket, he never gets any opposition bigs in foul trouble. And defenders are much too happy to get the ball away from the paint and let Scola take the open shot even though he knocks em down. Defensively we wouldn't be any worse off then we would with Scola but we would have a legit num1 go to option in scoring.
Scola and Lowry are consistently among the league leaders in taking charges. For all the praises Chuck gets for taking charges, Scola leads him by a mile. No one complained about Scola's defense when he was next to Yao.
