I current downloaded the Windows 7 64 bit operation and it didnt allow me to open it...

Is it very difficult to switch from 32-bit to 64?

Should I just stick with 32?

I don't think that's possible. I'm not an expert, but I believe that 32 bit versus 64 bit has to do with the computer's hardware.

You won't be able to open it inside a 32-bit Windows 7 copy. You'll need to reboot if you want to install it. 64-bit definitely has some nice advantages. Lot of apps can run faster and you can take more advantage of your 64-bit CPU (if I remember your thread from a few weeks ago correctly).

You don't have to reformat if you want to keep your data. The 64 bit installer will move all your old windows stuff to a different folder if you want. However, all your apps will need to be reinstalled.

What is the file type of the Windows 7 64-bit file? If it's an ISO (or any other disc image file type), then burn it to a DVD and boot from that DVD. I'm assuming that your processor supports 64-bit in the first place.

    In no particular order...

Burn the 64 bit to a DVD.

Boot the DVD to do a clean rewipe.

Back up your 32 bit shiz

AFAIK, you can't upgrade existing 32 bit OS with 64 bit. Best people have done is to make the existing copy into a separate giant folder.

Also someone earlier was correct, 64bit depends on your computers hardware. You may not be able to find drivers to get your computer up and running.
