Thought i should post this on a new topic...

Now, if we DON´T get Mo, what do you guys suggest?

If we want to get something done THIS year i would suggest somehow manage to get Patterson since Seattle seems to be entertaining the idea, and maybe Jerome Williams from detroit... they are willing to part with him.

The Wizard, KT and Drew + the exception may land us some of these guys.

And if that can´t be done, try our best to get Webber next year.

Oh, and what are your thoughts on signing Mutombo and moving Cato to PF? if we had a scoring SF it could work.

    just some food for thought.

As I said before, I would love to have Jerome Williams on this team. I think that of all the free-agent PFs currently available, he would be the most perfect fit. I'd rather have Jerome than Mo. The Rockets have enough scorers already - what we need now is a tough, rebounding, garbage type of player like Jerome.

If we don't sign Mo, we must rapidly switch gears and return to Cato for Fizer threads, to keep this bbs alive. And yes, I agree that we always have the other back-up plan of recalling "Walt, KT, Drew and the exception..." threads.

Personally, I don't believe the Webber threads are a good plan, because that is too far in the future and we need speculation that we can really visualize now. I think Webber threads will die out before 10 posts.

What we really need is Popeye to come in and mention Theo Ratliff again, that is, of course, if he can't conjure up a Fizer rumor.

Either one of those plans we really take off and make us forget about losing the Mo threads.

If we dont sign Mo, I think we should just stick with kenny Thomas and see if he gets any better... and then have C-Rog backing him up... just like last year.

I dont think we will really do anythin too drastic, and I dont think a Fizer trade gonna happen either.

Work on clearing capspace. Trade some players with multiple years left on their contracts + the exception maybe for a guy with one year left, like maybe Horace Grant.

Drew, KT, Walt, and the exception for Jerome Williams??? I don't think Jerome is worth that much, nor do I think it would work salary-wise.

Besides, I want to keep Walt!!

Man they should make me the GM.... hey would nebody actually trade picks for walt? just wonderin.......

We appeal to the league to revoke the Milwaukee draft day trade of Pryzbilla for Collier and then play Pryzbilla at Center (behind Olajuwon) and Cato at PF.

heypee-If there's anything that can challenge Mo Taylor threads, it'd be threads of rumored Olajuwon trades. All we'd need is one good rumor from oilypee of the Rockets trading Olajuwon the Da Clippas for Lamar Odom (to create even more controversy on the subject, and little sub threads of the creation, due to how good Odom is). I think it'd work.

I think we should start trying to save money for next year and try to trade for some draft picks as I hear that it is going to be one of the strongest drafts. Maybe trade Drew, KT, and the exception for a not so good teams future draft pick. Only if it was to the right team though. Are yall forgeting how good Carlos was playing right before he got hurt, I think he should start this year regardless of whether KT is still with us.

I agree with ya #1. Los was playing great before he got hurt. He should start and KT should back him up.

If Ewing goes to the Sonics, Mo will go to the Sonics. Both are David Falk clients, and with Baker gone for Ewing, that opens up the startin PF slot for Mo. Hopefully Ewing stays a Knick and Mo becomes a Rocket. But if Seattle gets Ewing and Mo, our playoff chances may get slimmer.
    Seattle:
    C-Ewing
    PF-Taylor
    SF-Lewis
    SG-Barry(weak link)
    PG-Payton
6th man-Shammond Williams and Ruben Patterson(if he doesn't get traded)
    That's a pretty good lineup.

Why don't we trade Walt/Cato/Drew/4.5 mill exception for Ewing/Knicks #1 pick & anyone else with one year left on their contract to make it work? That way when Ewing gets hurt and misses most of the year, we can have an excuse for tanking it. Next year we end up with several of the top picks & tons of cap space. After we draft a couple of super studs to combine with Francis/Anderson/Mobley/Langhi, Webber will be drooling to come here & play with those thoroughbreds (and the money of course).

Now, what I really think we should do if the Taylor deal falls through (which I don't think will happen) is to make a separate deal with the Clippers to get Maggette. It would have to give the Clippers players that they need without them having to take on more players or salary than they currently have. Say for instance, Drew/KT/4.5 mill exception/draft picks for Maggette/whoever it takes to make the deal work under the CBA guidelines. Keeping in mind that the 15% difference should be in favor of the Clipps to entice them into making the deal. They are overloaded at SF & Maggette would answer our need for a fulltime starting SF this year.

There has to be a way to pry Maggette away from the Clipps.

This from Fox Sports at http://www.foxsports.com/nba/hou/teamreport.sml :

The Rockets have worked on backup plans should they be unable to sign Maurice Taylor. They have looked at deals to use their $4.5 million trade exception and even to move multi-year contracts to clear cap space for next summer's free agent spending.

But they are not anxious to make any great changes.

It is more likely that if they sign Taylor, there will be no more major surprises or changes going into the season. They are not ready to move contracts for future cap space alone. And they love the mood of the rebuilding, no small factor with young, impressionable stars.

"You're never finished," Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. "You're always in the middle of the process. You just keep you mind open and look for ways to improve the team. It's an on-going process.

"Am I happy with what I have? Very much so. I like the team from last year. I like our draft choices. I think we have a great foundation, a really strong-rooted team in style of play and interpersonal relationships on the floor and off the floor. A lot of good things are happening. We don't need to make a gigantic overhaul."

If we don't sign Mo', I think the Fans on this site need to help our boys out. I'd like to think you could get your hands on some playbooks (Trail Reggie Miller), or do like the UNLV reporter and climb into the ventilation systems to get the scoop. This team is going to need some help without Mo. Let's pray he signs.
