Tonight in the Golden State game Eddie Griffin got a DNPCD on his stat sheet.

Also, Tmo only got about 8 minutes.

I think Rudy has realized that he needs to minimize the rotation and has put EG on the bench.

    Looks like the rotation is...

    Starters...

    Francis
    Cat
    Yao
    KT
    Rice

    Primary reserves

    Cato
    MoT
    Moochie
    Hawkins

On the bench or limited role

    Eddie Griffin
    TMo
    Boki
    Maddox

It will be interesting to see what Rudy does in the next game, but playing tons of people a few minutes each was clearly not working.

and playing Tmo for that many minutes? I'm sorry but i think Boki or Griffin :)D ) would have capitalized on those minutes more so than Tmo had.

Interesting. For Eddie to get a DNP, he must have been in Rudy's doghouse or injured/sore/etc. If the former, anyone care to speculate?

Can't say I'm sorry. The guy's been sucking it up. He'll be alright, but in the meantime, he's not helping the team much.

I'd like to see TMo get more minutes, even though he didn't do much with his tonight.

Interesting that KT started at PF.

DaDa, I think you meant to write Hawkins instead of Cat.

that's my assumption too. i think he's in rudy's doghouse for some plays that i still remember. i think it was in portland last night when he had an opportunity to drive to the basket only to hesitate, think about shooting, and passing it away. maybe i answered my own thread but dammit anyone is better than playing TmO.

Griffin, is still one of our best rebounders and blockers. He also alters alot of shots. I have heard several (opposing) broadcasters talk about the problems he creates for their players.

So his outside shot is not there, his defensive presence is still needed.

Also, how come Moochie can suck it up all year, and cost the Rockets a win, and his punishment is more minutes?

On a Warriors board, they are saying that Eddie Griffin should be traded for Mike Dunleavy Jr. I think that would be a good trade. Dunleavy is a very good defender. He is 6'9" and is taller than most players at his position. He has been praised for his defensive abilities. His offensive skills are still a work in progress.

sorry but as badly as Griffin has been playing (or not playing), i would NEVER want lil Mike. You saw his play tonight...or lack thereof? He's got some issues.

I haven't watched enough Rockets games to know Rudy's way of coaching, but can anyone explain a few subs in tonight's game?

In the 1st, Yao was doing great on the offensive side, scoring at will, but had trouble with Dampier's physical play at the defensive end. Just when Yao sent Dampier to bench with two quick fouls, Rudy T. pulled Yao out at about 8 minute time. What's the reason for the subs?

Cate did a great job at the 1st and 2nd in place of Yao. Instead of keeping him in the game, Rudy T. started Yao in the 2nd half. What's the logical behind all these moves?

I'm not trying to criticize anyone one here, just a confused bball fan.

well like you said, yao was doing good til he got into foul trouble and maybe that's why rudy put him back in in the 2nd half...see if he can get it going. about yao getting pulled out...maybe he was tired...

tommycat: You want to trade Grif for a guy who's a pretty good defender with something to prove on offense??? That IS Griffin. Who, by the way, is a million times better defender than Mikey D AND already has more offense (albeit an ugly one).

DaDa: the rotation is not set at all. Mo's got more time to get back in game shape. KT's got more time to see if he can really be effective at the 3. Rice has got more time to see if he can stay healthy. T-Mo looked beautiful in pre-season and isn't even half back yet. And Cat's injured. And if you think our vaunted 15th pick, slasher, amazing shooter Boki is sitting on IR all year, think again. Plus, we don't know how long Cato's real and we don't know how long it is til Yao's the primary focus of the offense. NOTHING is set. Look to the all-star break for a set rotation. Then look for another one as soon as the inevitable injuries set in. In the meantime, we're getting great looks at various rotations. And Rocketball is (mostly) fun again. Good enough for me.

I do believe that was because Yao had just picked up his second foul also.

i swear i thought yao got 2 in the first quarter  but then they said he only had 3 in 2nd half i was like  anyway.. I'd like to see this starting line up for the majority of games until cat gets back

    steve
    hawk
    rice
    kt -or EG
    yao

but it all depends on matchups anyway, if we can get the same 4 starting each game and change 1 due to a better matchup i feel we'll do a lot better at the beginning of games, where we seem to be struggling the most (this is not new)

Yao has 2 in the 1st for sure

Yao was tired and Dampier was bangin hard with him. You could see him gasping for air and missing some D assignments at the 8 minute mark--which is early. Yao is gonna go through some games, where getting pushed and bumped throughs his conditioning off. He will get used to it, but right now he is not built to handle 25-30 minutes against hardcore banging. You will see him play big minutes against teams with less physical centers this year. Next year his conditioning should improve with weights and the ability to position better.

I know some big men who played college ball who tell me, you get the wind knocked out of ya a lot...you have to be ready for the banging and learn to position correctly. Dampier and Foyle were hitting it hard and Cato knows and can handle it a little better....

    That is my take....
