he was a 2 guard back in college if im not mistaken. OKC knew this and tried to convert him into a PG. I don't care how much his jumper has improved. All that is moot if his decision making as a PG doesn't improve.
Spot on there, bro. I don't think he is a point guard. I think he's a 2 guard that has to dominate the basketball ala Kobe/Monta Ellis. OKC would be better off to get a true point guard and then they have the dilemma of Westbrook and Harden playing the same position. They should: start Maynor or that Reggie Williams kid move Westbrook to the 2 Durant at the 3 Perkins 5 Ibaka 4 then possibly swing a trade for a big time 4 using Harden and Ibaka as the bait.
You guys are beating this to death. KD has won two consecutive scoring titles with WB as PG. OKC has won 50 and 55 games during the same span. One game does not make a career.
People nowadays always associate a player with the position they are assigned to. Westbrook is a SCORING point guard, which means he's able to create for himself AND others. The same case for Rose. Why does a player MUST be a traditional passing PG if he plays the PG position? Nowadays, more and more players are well-rounded and are able to do multiple things. Should Cam Newton NOT run b/c that's not what a traditional QB does? Or Lebron and Wade shouldn't create plays b/c that's now what a SHOOTING guard or small forward does. Leave it to Chalmers. Or Rose should pass the ball to Bogans so he can SHOOT the ball. WTF??? WB is a great basketball PLAYER. He has had bad games, and he will have bad games. For god sakes, now people are considering benching/trading the guy. Do you guys even watch basketball???? The guy is only 22 or 23, and he still has a lot to learn. Hopefully he learns to improve his freakin' mid-range jumper. EDIT: only a 3 game sample, but Mark Jackson has changed the Warriors' culture. Defense, playing disciplined offense... and NY still hasn't grown up. Melo and Amare play the same type of ball that won't elevate the Knicks.
When the Warriors were playing pathetic (especially Monta Ellis) and the Knicks didn't open up a big lead in the 1st half, I had a feeling it would bite them later.
Gotta give Mark Jackson credit..he has the Warriors doin' work. Dominate the Bulls and beat the Knicks decisively, without Curry. Good for him.
yeah I did not expect golden state to be as good as they are. they struggle really bad on offense at times but now they have some what of a defense to bail them out. like someone said earlier - it's like JVG ball all over again lol.
dailythunder Royce Young .@DarnellMayberry reports that KD and Westbrook had an altercation tonight and had to be separated: bit.ly/uzFshm ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein Maybe it's nothin. As @ESPN_Caplan suggests, maybe Westbrook/Durant spat will be blip for OKC like Terry v Carlisle last season. However ... ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein There are differences aplenty. Starting with fact that scrutiny meter on Durant/Westbrook relationship will now never switch off. Never
yeah that's definitely a good sign. the media is going to be all over it. Westbrook is an amazing talent no doubt. I don't classify him as a PG - he's always been a 2 guard but if you're handling the ball as much as he is, you have to make good decisions with it. that's what will elevate OKC from the WCF to an NBA championship. Bottom line, his decision making needs to improve fast. He hasn't shown much in that department. When he makes that transition, OKC will be elite.
NBA TV says Westbrook passed it to Sefolosha in 2nd quarter...he passed up the shot and passed it off and Westbrook screamed at him "shoot the ****ing ball!", and then his teammates tried to calm him down. Westbrook especially took exception to Durant's attitude.
Great game by Shane Battier tonight for the Heat: 20 mins, 0 pts, -11 Rookie Norris Cole is contributing more to the Heat's success than Battier probably will this whole season, lol.
I know it has only been two games, but so far the Knicks do not impress me. They went down to the wire against a breaking down Celtics team without Pierce, and then blew a game against a Curry-less Warriors. Here's to hoping this continues.
Scoring pointguards still need to make sound decisions. Westbrook has a history... And I am not convinced that Rose has what it takes to manage games effectively either.
