I got more than a bag of chips. I got a family size variety pack of Big Grabs. Any flavor you want. Any Cato haters still wanna do the deal? I've said from the beginning Cato was a special case -- a special head case. And I've said from the beginning that his good moods were worth his bad moods, especially as a backup. He is EARNING his contract. A search will reveal I always said he would. Time for a new "I was wrong you were right thread." You're welcome to address it to me, but I don't need all that. All I need is a big fat "Go, Cato. We're glad you're a Rocket and we're glad you're earning your money." I already went first. Who's going second?

Cato knows how to avoid commiting fouls, unlike Yao. I am very proud of Cato.

I've never had a problem with Cato...as a backup. He just overpaid but I don't blame him at all for that.

I'm happy to see him playing well. The combo with he and Yao playing well is GREAT news.

Just how many fouls has Yao averaged? I think you are stretching the facts.

Agreed, Freebie. Hang in there -- you'll be signed soon. Smarts are in short supply these days.

One of the most impressive bits of Yao's flashlike learning curve is that he's not committing stupid fouls anymore. At all.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Did I just get a non-sarcastic agreement from my pal heypartner? Never mind the chips. Come to my Kinks show (WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN???) and have a drink on me. We'll drink to the best center tandem Houston's seen since the old timey twin towers.

Right. Against one of the strongest center rotations in the league and it didn't stop them playing aggressive at ALL. I repeat. I've got a bag of chips (or even ten bags) if you still want to make the trade. You can have a full buffet for Cato and the whole Clippers squad minus Brand for Ming. Still sound good or can we just agree to smile at the good, good thing we've got going?

I'm thrilled with it, Batman. I was wrong about Cato too. That last post was just a response to someone who implied Cato played significantly better than Yao, which I disagree with. It wasn't intended as an insult to Cato at all-- he had a wonderful game.

    All hail Mr. Hands! :D

Smeg, you loveable Aussie b*stard.... The email function's off. Email me and I'll be there. But only, and I mean ONLY if you NEVER quote Francis Blinebury to me again. Assuming you're cool with that, mail me at jnodler@infernalbridegroom.com. It'll be good to meet you.

Oh yes, and I like a righteous bandwagon as much as the next guy. Tommy's cat might love you, but it's just cause he don't know better. Yao's the future of the Rockets who are the future of the sport. Go off an slobber on the Texans. There's plenty to b**** about over there. Over here we're basking in an embarassment of riches. You look a fool playing one (suddenly) good center against a (soon to be) great one.

Cato's preseason and start thi year's made me believed he's improved his game. And I'm all for getting Yao major minutes this season, I still don't know why he came back so slowly to the line-up after a family funeral. Rudy get's criticized for everything, but I think he sees when someone's "not in the game" at paractice, and some guys are known as "game players" and Kelvin is known to take solace in his own opinion. Nothing wrong with that if you're plating well, and he had maybe 1 1/2 bad game to start the season, and that should have earned more respect than it did. But Kelvin Cato is Kelvin Cato, and if he continues to play like he's started this season his salary isn't totally out of whack given how Yao's going to be grossly underpaid the next 2 seasons? Anybody disagree there's not going to be a strike when the CBA expires?

declan, there's been more than enough debate about why Cato came back slowly. My take had to do with depression. Search if you wanna read it. Turns out he came back at the exact right time. Just like it turns out Yao started getting minutes at the exact right time. Any chance at all Rudy has some kind of inside info that us BBS'ers aren't privvy to? It almost seems that way sometimes. Especially when it comes to this year and Yao and Cato.

Dampier was coming off a 31 pt 14 reb game against the Bucks..Cato was the mvp in this game. Ive always questioned his hustle..not this year.
This is the best he has ever played, its a mental thing...not physical.

I've always thought/said it would be a very, very stupid move to trade Cato. Sure he doesn't rebound as well as everyone would like and other than tonight, doesn't block a lot of shots. But there's one thing he brings to the game that neither of our other centers do, and that's a live, physical body.

Did anyone notice how Dampier backed Yao down easily in the paint several times at the start of the game. The one thing that Cato does pretty well is body up to a physical center. Even the last game against G.S. when Dampier went off on us he wasn't backing Cato all the way down, he was scoring off of jump hooks and turnarounds mostly when he scored against him.

Do the people that keep calling for us to trade Cato actually stop and think what it would be like if he were not here?

Whenever Yao would get tired or in foul trouble quickly, and I guarantee you we will see a lot of that this year, Jason Collier would be required to play big minutes. Only problem is he's as non-physical/foul-prone against the more powerful centers as Yao, only minus the 7'6.

People will say, oh, but MoT or Griffin could play center. Well, Mo can't even defend power forwards that well and EG gets backed down just like Yao and Jason.

Watch the other team whenever we have Collier or Mo at center. They drive to the basket at will.

When you have a finesse center as your starter, it's better to have a physical one as his backup.

Cato may be in the lower half of the league for starting centers, but he's in the upper third for backups.

So props to you, Roberto Duran, for an excellent game tonight. Oops, I mean Kelvin Cato.(Wrong hands of stone).

One thing thats awesome about our centers is that we can give Cato most of the minutes, give Yao about 20 min and Yao will be incredibly productive. I mean who else do u know will get you 14 points in 16 minutes, with only 8 shots? We can give Ming these few minutes and he could still possibly get ROTY. I am, however, really worried about Griffin, which is completely different story.
