I was wondering what would you guys feel about Rockets pursuing a trade with Grizzlies for Pau Gasol? Ever since Hubie and Gooden have come along he has been upset with his role on the team and has already start to become a cancer as his numbers have declined. What should Rockets do to bring in a guy like Gasol? Gasol could be that guy to bring Rockets to the next step and with a core like Griffen, Francis, and Ming adding Gasol would make Rockets a sick group to come. Problem is what would u give up for Grizzlies that they would want? THey are in need for a pg. Don't know the contract situations but would you do Rocks 1st draft pick and maybe Mo Taylor for Gasol? Grizz would probaly want more then that but anyway lets get at thread going on I am tired of hearing how much Moochie sucks.
I don't think we would have anything to offer the grizzlies....GASOL was ROY last year and they would expect a lot in return. If some how we could give them KT, Moochie, and maybe MoT...and I know that's a stretch!
1st round pick and Mo? You're gonna have to throw in a whole lotta weed with Mo for that to happen. Seriously, think when you propose trades. It would probably take Cat and maybe more to get Pau here. And no, they don't want Kenny, Mooch, or Rice.
Well everyone knows I am a big Gasol fan. Even though he has struggled this year, Im sticking with him. Memphis should and probably will build around Gasol and Gooden. IMO, Gasol is a better player than Gooden at this point and I dont think the Grizz are looking to get rid of the reigning ROY. Also, to get a player like that, we would have to give them something they want. They are not getting Francis or Yao. Im sure the Rockets would love to gave Gasol instead of Griffin, but we would have to sweeten the pot and unfortunately, after Franics, Yao and Griffin, we dont have any candy. Memphis doesnt want any more forwards or big men, they need guards and playmakers. I can guarantee you Jerry West is not a Moochie fan. The only thing that works is, Mobley and fluff for Gasol and fluff. Problem is, more than likely neither team is looking to trade those players so I wouldnt look for Gasol in pinstripes anytime soon.
To get Pau you'd have to get Dickerson. And give two quality players. And a draft choice. Ain't gonna happen. Want to cherry pick? Look to the Jailblazers...
He is the reigning ROY putting up near All Star level numbers...Imagine if 2 years ago someone mentioned us trading Stevie for the likes of Kenny, Moochie, and Mo-T...we would laugh it off just like West would now. It would take Cuttino, Griffin, +, and I don't want to trade Griff...Now a move that gets us Battier + for Mobley might be more realistic...
Did you read my post? DIdn't I just sit up here and say Grizz would probaly want more? I am just trying to contribute to the board so if all you have is to be negative then its on you. I am well aware they would want more then the pick and Mo. I honestly would trade griff and a number 1 or Mo to get him. The guy is the real deal ou tof his second year of playing. Though you could possibly miss out on a player like Griffen who could end up being All Star or could end up being decent for a guy like Gasol who has already playing like a All Star and can only go up from here. It all matters if Rockets are in the rebuliding mode or do they feel they are right there with teams. They have a long way to go to catch up with Mavs, Spurs, Kings, Lakers, and Seattle.
Please, this team doesn't need Gasol. The nucleus is there. All the Rockets need to do is surround it with quality, veteran shooters, and develop some chemistry.
Pau & Yao? Add Boki and you have an all-international frontcourt. But I say let's give Griffin (the whole team actually) more time.
I agree with you lets let them get more time but I was just saying if the opprotunity came around to add Pau I would do the best IO could to try and bring him in here. I have no problem with them getting time together but there is only 1 champion. As of right now we have 6 teams who are a better team then us right now. If we want to get to that next step I do not see our roster as of right now a championship squad I just don't see it there. I compare our roster with Lakers, Mavs, Kings, Spurs and Seattle and we come close to Seattle but they're record explains it all. I don't think sittin and waiting around is gonna give us a championship hard work is.
I would love to get Pau Gasol, he is a smart player, and can pass the ball for a big man just like Yao can. To get him though we would have to give up alot. Maybe Griffin+Cato+Terence Morris for Pau+Dickerson(bring him back to H-Town) I would do that trade. Maybe we could get Lorenzen Wright from them too or even better Stromile Swift.
You have a few wrong assumptions here not to mention the fact that your trade makes no sense from the grizz point of view. Wrong Assumption 1: Pau is upset with Hubie and Gooden. Pau even before hubie got here said that he did not want to play center but that he would do it for the good of the team. He just wants to win. As far as hubie goes, pau is not upset with hubie; pau is upset with the offense. Big difference. Although hubie pulled no punches, he did say that once his offense is in place pau would get a few more plays run for him. Neither of these exchanges are to the point of demanding a trade, which seems to be your logic as to why the grizz would take so little in return. Yes, you said that the rox would need to add more to the trade, but you did not offer a player. Are the rox going to pull said player out of their hat? No. The fact is yao is the only player the grizz would be interested in, which leads us to assumption 2. If pau is unhappy the rox can get him without trading even griff, which BTW would not be enough anyway. If pau were on the block, every team in the league would make an offer better than yours. Now to assumption 3. The grizz are in need of a pg. Maybe from an outsider's perspective, you think they do, but I can assure you that west and hubie think otherwise. Hubie has praised williams repeatedly and so has west. To the point that, williams would be all but untradable. I doubt that the grizz would trade williams for andre miller if given the chance.
totally agree...i would difinately consider a trade for Pau...he's a good shot block; passer and low post scorer....we have too many forwards that don't pass and shoot too many 18ft jumpers...Pau would be perfect for us.
Well the way Cato is playing right now his value might be more than I thought. I would not want to trade Cato, but to get Gasol we would mostly have to.
i would love to have gasol in a rockets uniform.but i don't think that wil ever happen.we do not have anything to offer the grizzlies. But i do not understand why he get so few shots in Memphis??he will turnaround and play good this year.i'm afraid i have to see him play in memphis. And the rockets have a great set of players, and wil develop into smething great.
Let's entertain this thought for a minute... On Real GM we could trade Cato 24.5/3 yrs remaining Mobley 17.9/3 Griffin 7.9/3 Thomas 5.7/1 for Wright 22.1/3 Knight 18.3/1 Gasol 8.8/3 Battier 8.7/3 Trade accepted, but why would we? Cato seems to be coming into his own this year despite his family situation. Mobley was playing well before the injury. Griffin is still young and learning. He can be a defensive monster in two more years and that will also give him a chance to build his offensive game. KT is probably gone after this year and he's not playing as well as he did last. Seems to need the ball more and his forcing his game a bit more. The best part of this trade is Gasol is the undisputed starter PF and like Yao he has outstanding court sense. While I like Battier's hustle and attitude...he's not close to Mobes on O. I agree w/Sal let's give this team a chance.
