Well they had one...and cut him in the preseason.

I can't believe that Rudy was totally committed to the passing offense otherwise he would have never let a 6'6" SG who moves without the ball just walk.

Oscar Torres would have been much better to have on this team then Mickeal or Maddox.

    Torres Stats

Sometimes I wonder what Rudy is thinking.

Keep in mind that Torres has only made 10 more shots than Maddox and has only 1 more assist. :)

Yeah, but an inaccurate gauge since Torres has only put up 16 shots all season. I think last year is a little better view of what he shoots in the Rockets offense.

It probably would have improved some though due to having Yao Ming in the post.

DaDakota, it should be 62.5% in the title. Or do you mean Moochie FT%? If this is the case, this number is correct.:D

Torres is averaging all of 6 minutes a game on the lowly Warriors. If his FG% was really indicative of his shooting abilities or his ability to get good shots, I think he would be averaging more minutes.

The guy's only playing, what, 6 minutes a game?

I thought he showed good hustle at the beginning of last season, but I didn't see much else from him.

My point is that he is a better fit for the offense that Rudy is trying to install.

He does not need the ball and moves very well without it.

And, he is miles better then Maddox or Michael, and with Cat out, he is sorely missed.

I didn't understand cutting Torres or Brown, but I haven't seen much of Maddox or Micheal. Doesn't look like I'm going too, either.

I was unhappy that Torres wasn't resigned. He gave another option as a scorer who can also defend other guards. Pete Mickeal is a better defender than Torres.Maddox is a reserve point guard but he doesn't have a good outside shot.

When I looked at the thread title, I thought you were talking about Yao Ming!

A 7-6 shooting guard with >60% accuracy? Not bad. I'm sure his fg% won't stay that high if he goes farther away from the basket. But he sure can hit those shots. Why not give it a try?:D

    Torres was cut for Hawkins.

Rudy had an obligation to give Oscar a spot on the active roster or find him a team with a spot. Tucking him away on the Injured List is mean, and would not have done us any good or Oscar.

Oscar was beat out by Hawkins, and probably wouldn't have even signed an contract to be on our Injured List.

    He had no contract, right?

The Rockets also did not pick up their option on guard Oscar Torres' contract. But Torres is included on the summer league team and will have a chance to earn a roster spot that came to him easily as an offseason find last summer.

Think about it. Right now, Cuttino Mobley is on the Inactive Roster with Collier. Maddox will go back when Cat is ready. Would you pick Torres over Hawkins for an active roster spot? And would you have lied to Torres that he has an active roster spot just to get him to sign a contract in October?

If Hawk doesn't make this team, Torres does.
